Donald Trump Visiting Salem VA Saturday

President Trump will have rally in Salem Virginia this weekend, November 2, 2024. I plan on listening to local agencies, city, county, and state, to monitor what can be heard. Most of the local LE, EMS, and fire are encrypted but there is still some in the open.

My request for assistance and information is about what federal frequencies that could be suggested to monitor. Any suggestions for this area will be appreciated.

I don't think there's any federal frequencies that won't be encrypted.

Other than VSP (even then, might have ops on encrypted TG), what other LE agency is not encrypted in that area?

Post Status Report:

There was a multiple frequencies with open traffic that are normally fairly quiet. Listened to several local LE traffic on subjects related directly to the event and those that were on the sidelines. Local bus and local government frequencies were blazing with bits of information on the whereabouts of individuals as well as resources.

Had four different radios going and feel it was a successful day of monitoring. With most of the traffic on encrypted frequencies, it was fun to investigate the multiple ones available. True, the federal frequencies were quiet but monitored them just the same.

Also wanted to mention the Fire/EMS part of the Roanoke Valley Radio System was hopping with Franklin County involved in supporting the civic center, there was multiple traffic with requests for assistance, directions, additional information and additional help. The bus service reviewed with their drivers the closed routes and detours.

Nice. In general, I am noticing more encryption on Salem 1 and Wytheville 1 for VSP/STARS. But 99% of their traffic is still open.

That's because some of the Troopers are using the encrypted zones prior to the cutover. Not sure when the cutover is planned, but once it hits, the consoles will likely be strapped in addition to the subscribers.
