Does anyone know what baud rate the Dorchester Co. trunked system uses? I was down in Cambridge today, and I was only able to copy what sounded like a control channel (digital noise). The bc250d w/ bc25i card I was using was scanning 2 other trunked systems, AACo and UESC with no problems...

The other scanners are the Bearcat scanners that sell for around $530.00 each. You may want to check Ebay. Sometimes you can pick up a digital scanner in the 3-4 hundred dollar range.
The Bearcat snanners are the BC785d, BC250D, BC796D, and the BC296D. You may get better deals on the 785 and 250d. They came out before the 296 and 796. The 250 is handheld and the 785 is a base version.

You might want to avoid the BC785 and 250. Apart from being discontinued, there are major 800 Mhz frequency changes coming that will not be supported by Uniden on these scanners. While they may not affect Dorchester county, if you travel to other areas, you may well run into this problem.

In addition, a seperate digital card - tbe BC25i - is required for digital reception. The 296/796 come with this standard; it's a seperate item for the 250/785, and will add to the cost.

Don't forget the upcoming BCD396T; it's also digital capable, and unfortunately just as pricey.
