Can someone tell me how to get a comm port to initialize in dos mode? It works when I am using Win 98SE. Thanks.

Try using the MODE command.

Mode COMx:96,n,8,1
-or-
mode comx
-or-
mode /?

Where "x" equals the comport you wish to activate or interrogate.

Hi. I am having the same problem with my computer on Windows 98. When I use the "MS-Dos" prompt in windows Trunker works okay, but with some lost signal strength. When I do a "re-start in MS-Dos" the computer gives me a command prompt, but then I go to the Trunker directory and start Trunker it sdoesn't seem to find my "TRACKENV.TXT" file.

Also when I am in that mode it is not receiving any input from COM 1. I have tried testing it with "slicer" and there doesn't seem to be anything coming through or it is not finding COM 1.

I tried the mode command you suggested and it displayed this "Mode COM1:96,n,8,1-". As you can see it simply repeated my command and put a dash on the end of it.

I am not very computer literate so any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

I forgot to mention I tried to get into the BIOS on my computer but could not get to it. I thought maybe the problem with the com port might be there.
