hey all, im running the old DOS trunker 3.8.3 on a machine at the office, and would like to switch to the new unitrunker (1.0.0.5) but cant for the life of me figure out how to get the data into the new version. The older version i could convert with uniconv and life was good, but so far am stuck.

I like the interface on this version (plus it helps that im using inline data with the PSR500) but the system i watch has over 350 TGs as well as I have about 1000 radios aliased in dos trunker so retyping all that data would be a nitemare.

Also rick, i am seeing the same problem where it takes a few tries to get the 800Mhz freqs to show other than 0.0000. This is on a 28 Channel Motorola Smartzone 3.x simulcast mixed mode system. Interestingly enough when watching a 380.x P25 they come right in. Eventually they did populate on the 800Mhz TRS and get saved in the XML file.

What am i missing? I have tried to convert the trunker files to the "old" unitrunker format but the "new" unitrunker doesnt seem to do anything with it.

thanks all!

Sorry grem. That's a previously reported problem. The work-around is to copy the data files to a separate folder and import from there. Make sure the folder has nothing else in it.

Converting Old Dos Files

Put the Dos text files into the same directory you will be using for the Unitrunker files.
That's it. When Unitrunker hears a unit id or group id for the first time it will look into your dos text files if you haven't done anything else. It will automatically import the information from the dos test files. Try it you'll love it. Neat.

Converting Trunker Files

I put the Group and User files into separate folder and that did not work. So, I put both files into the UniTrunker folder and that didn’t work either. I am also having a problem with the program not controlling my AR5000 like it should. It doesn’t change to the indicated frequency or the parking frequency but that’s for another day. I would like to be able to move my old UniTrunker files over because I put a lot of work into them and I don’t wich to do it all over again.

Open 1.0.0.5 and choose the system tab then choose import button at the top. Before decoding with 1.0.0.5

I have to put them in the same folder as the windows uniform.exe file is in. Once opening 1.0.0.5 click on the import button then choose that same directory and then it should bring up all the systems that you have. Once that is done start to decode your signal and it should automatic have the info. in place for you. Or that is how I do it. You will need to start a fresh folder for 1.0.0.5 or start to delete 1.0.0.5 data files it is unitrunker and all the xls files.
Hope this works

Inporting Data

I got it to work. It took me a while because I am the dumbest guy I now. I tried just putting the data files for the Groups and Users in the same directory as the Uniform.exe file, however, nothing happened (Like I said, "dumb.")

So I reasoned that if that didn’t work, I would go for overkill. I put all of the data files from the old UniTrunker program into the directory and see what happened. Well, as soon as I started the program it started to gather up all of the required data and fill in all of the blanks.

It worked great and was really simple as soon as I quit thing for myself and did what I was told.

Trying to import Trunker system files (System 6F0F). If I put all the files (grp, ids, sys, ptch, msg, cells) into Universal Trunker directory, it will crash when trying to load the system. If I leave just the grp and ids file, it will not crash, but nothing ever shows up in the systems list. Shouldn't the system I add show up at that point? I'm trying with a fresh install and prior to trying to decode the system.

I've also tried leaving the grp and ids files in the Universal Trunker directory, and try decoding the system, but nothing from my old Trunker files is importing automatically via that method as well. Any other thoughts?

I have also tried downloading the talkgroup information via Radio Reference. The most I can get to show up when trying to download from RR is the system name, talkgroup names do not show up. But ideally if I can get the data from my Trunker files, this will not be as much of a problem.

I'm having the same problem as jpryor with importing RadioReference data. I'm also monitoring 6F0F (Ohio MARCS North), specifically the Strongsville (Site 42) tower.

I've confirmed that UT is successfully downloading information from RR as the 'get' XML files are populated with XML data from RR. The 'Peers' tab is showing other neighboring towers, etc.

Just no Talkgroup descriptions in the Audience and Label fields in the Call History screen.

I can manually enter Talkgroup descriptions however.

Update: UT can monitor the Cleveland Motorola system AND the Radio Reference successfully imported Talkgroups! I wonder if something in the RR's MARCS data isn't jiving with what UT's Import function is expecting? Perhaps because MARCS has multiple system IDs in it?
