I am trying to do some research and would like to download from the FCC database all the data from a specific FRN to a spreadsheet, CSV, etc.

I could view each license and copy/paste but this would take hours as there are a couple hundred licenses with one FRN and that is pretty much the tip of the iceberg. Many of the licenses have multiple locations, dozens of frequencies or both.

Has anyone done this and can explain the steps involved?

Thanks!

Rich may be enjoying another pursuit other than scanning...
FRN...FCC Registration Number
If you have a license of any kind with the FCC you have a FRN.

@N9JIG not sure there is a database that does what you are looking for, each database I've tried returns a list of licenses but not all the info in one table. If all the freqs were in one area you could do a site search within radius of xx miles and sort that way.

At the very top, choose Exact Matches only
Enter FRN under licensee
Choose 100 returns per page
Click Search
If you want to narrow it down by location, do not enter that info under licensee, that gives you the licensee address not the transmitter locations. Instead, use Geosearch at the bottom and enter the state (and county if you want) on the second page
Once you get your results, choose the download option.

The ULS Query download works well, you get pipe delimited output that goes right into your Excel-derivative of your choice, but I have had it take as long as an hour to get the email with the data.

OK, I got the records in Pipe delineated data format downloaded and unzipped. There are nearly 600 licenses so it is broken into 6 files and when unzipped I can view it in Excel, Word etc.

Using the files from the Advanced License Search I get all the fields which appears to have the data in separate areas. I don't know how to make relational databases work so that is not going to be easy to massage into something I can work with.

I will next try the Query download and see if I can get it to restrict to a more reasonable amount of fields, like callsign, freq, Class and location.

Thanks all for the help so far!
