Greetings,
I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, or been beaten to death, but I've been searching and reading and can't find the answer. So take it easy on a new guy!

I just picked up a RS pro 106, and I'm using PSREdit500 to download the data from the RR database and program my scanner. No problem there, I've already got all my local and statewide channels programed.

Is there a way to download and program the GMRS/FRS frequencies from the RR database? I live up in the woods of NW Montana where the only GMRS/FRS traffic is from hunters, and I'd like to be able to add those channels without manually programming them.

Thanks

You do know that the PSR500 has a built-in service search band setup already for those frequencies, right? You can actually add this to the scanner's channel set being scanned as a separate object - so it would scan through the channels along with everything else.

Thanks Mike,
I was using built in search for the GMRS/FRS, but I couldn't figure out how to add it to the regular object scan. How do I do that?

Thanks again

GMRS/FRS scanning object

There should be an easy means to do so using PSREDIT. I know there is in WIN500, which I use. You may try the software board and ask in the PSREDIT thread.

As for doing so manually:

1) Press PGM.

2) Press F1 (NEW).

3) Press F3 (SRCH).

4) Press F2 (SRVC).

5) Select the scan list (or lists, plural) you want to put it in.

6) Press down arrow once to get the the service selection.

7) Use the right and left arrow keys to select the service FRS/GM/MURS.

8) Press F1 (SAVE).

9) Hit SCAN.

You should be set!

In answer to the question you asked, no. The reason is that the Database does not store standard frequencies anywhere. Marine channels, CB, FRS, GMRS, etc. are the same everywhere, so they are not normally entered in the database.

In PSREdit500, switch to the Search objects tab, right click on the list window, and click on the "Add Service Search Object". In the screen that appears, select the "FRS/GMRS/MURS" option for the Service Type option. Set the Scan list you want this to be a part of and then click on the Apply button. Upload that to the scanner, turn on the scan list that the search object is a part of, and you should be all set.

Note: You can turn off some frequencies in the list on that page as well.
