dp4401 EX - possible to decrypt this radio ?

hello, I work at an oil refinery and we use DP4401 Ex - Motorola radios.

I have an SDR RTL .. ive picked up a working frequency using the SRD from the Motorola radio,
but its scrambled or encrypted..

any tips on finding out how I can listen to the frequencys or find out what kind of encryption its using

Well, that particular type of radio can use the following type of privacy:

1) Basic (255 codes)
2) Enhanced (1.099T possible keys)
3) AES 256 (unimaginable amount of possible keys)

You can use DSD+ to ID the algorithm type to some extent. However, it won't differentiate between Enhanced Privacy and AES.

Also, DSD+ does not provide any facilities whatsoever to allow you to determine the actual privacy/encryption key in use.

So, if you want to listen in (decode encryption), you will have to get your employer to issue you a radio with the proper key.
