DENVER - Police received reports of shots fire at around 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Police confirmed at least four people were shot at the Safeway Distribution Center at 4600 E. Stapleton Dr. South. Three of those people have critical injuries and one has minor injuries. They have been transported to the hospital.
There are an unknown number of employees still in the building and police have asked them to lock themselves into rooms.
No one inside the building is considered a hostage at this point, according to police. The shooter is still inside the building and at least one fire is burning. Fire crews have entered the building and police are inside the building searching.
I-70 is being re-opened.
Both directions of I-70 were closed between Steele and Quebec. The ramp from southbound Colorado to eastbound I-70 was also closed. In addition, westbound I-70 traffic was previously being diverted onto I-270.
