DPS-1 Beaumont is Repeated

While traveling to Louisiana last week and during the return this past Sunday, I noticed the the DPS-1 (155.4600) was being operated as a repeater. At first I thought it might just be repeating some other channel, but since I was simultaneously monitoring the mobile side (154.6800) it became plain when I was in range of a trooper that in fact the Beaumont DPS office was not using half-duplex but actual repeater operation on DPS-1. I don't remember seeing this mentioned here before and a check of the FCC Database reveals that they are licensed for one repeater on DPS-1 on a temporary basis anywhere statewide (KKM304).

I must say, it sure made listening a lot more enjoyable from Chambers Co. to the state line and back.

Their P25 stations must be able to do it also. I have heard Midland DPS (155.4675) be in "repeat" mode occasionally.

I too wish they would turn it on more!

DPS Beaumont has been in "repeat mode" since Hurricane Katrina last year on 155.4600. I too have noted many of the digital stations in Regions 4 and 8 using repeat mode instead of half duplex on 155.460, 155.445, 155.4525 & 155.4675.
