Last couple of nights I've heard Lubbock units being dispatched by Amarillo, seems it stars around 1AM and ends about 8 Am .Must have a patch between the two places. Maybe they are trying to save on manpower since the governor is cutting state budgets.
Anybody else heard other dispatch centers doing this?

They started that in 2010.

They also started changing where some of the remote repeaters are dispatched from.

The Vernon repeater used to be dispatched by Amarillo until last year when they put up a new yagi antenna at the Wichita Falls office pointed west and now Wichita Falls dispatches on it. Similar things have been happening in some other areas.

Supposedly all of the dispatch consoles and some of the remote sites are networked. If that's true then theoretically any dispatch console in the state could connect to any other and probably talk on any tower.

ND5Y,
Is the Benjamin DPS repeater dispatched by Witcita Falls? The data base has it under Amarillo ,seems a long way to Amarillo when Witchia Falls is a lot closer. Even Lubbock is closer than Amarillo.

I don't think so. It used to be dispatched by Childress before they closed and Amarillo took over.

Here and there...
Abilene DPS is dispatched from Wichita Falls everyday from 2400 to 0600...

The DPS dispatcher in Abilene starts making announcements for the switch about 30 minutes prior.
