Ok i was hearing the scanner today and i heard on the dps channel 155.460000 that someone was talking about the chopper and asking if it was going up on the air the dispatcher then told him that he was on the primary channel.

Does someone in this area happen to know what the secondary channel for dps is. I have 159.21750 this is falfurrias dps, 155.44500 which is harlingen dps and sometimes i hear traffic there. Never heard anything on the falfurrias channel.

Thank you

Have you programmed in the whole statewide band plan from the database? In reality it's only about 6 or 7 output frequencies (with many NACs to choose from, unless your scanner cannot discriminate between them).

The 4 "Base" frequencies are a must (A1/A2, B1/B2).

From there Repeaters 10A-19A are 159.2100 (with different NACs) and 10B-19B are 159.2175 (with many NACs).

Last 3 are 155.5125 (Rptr 20), 159.0975 (Rptr 21) and 155.5050 (CLE). Besides that there might be one or two specific to a county.

With the above programmed in you can pretty much make it from El Paso to Vidor or McAllen to Dallam without skipping a beat.

Mike I do a similar programming routine (I also have the Mobile inputs- great for when you're close to the trooper). I also store the NAC codes though for Repeaters 10A-19B. The only reason I do is to better identify repeaters when I'm getting some VHF skip. With so much room in these new scanners there's no reason not to have all these.

OK WHAT I AM GOING TO DO IS PUT ALL THE FREQUENCIES FROM MCALLEN AREA AND ALSO THE ONES OF COMMON STATEWIDE ACCORDING TO THIS SITE. ALSO I AM PUTTING THE INPUT FREQUENCIES.

ON ANOTHER NOTE I DID NOTICE THAT ABOUT OUT OF 25 FREQUENCIES ABOUT 20 OF THEM ARE THE SAME ONES BUT WITH DIFFERENT NAMES ON THEM.

WHAT SHOULD I DO? SHOULD I JUST REMOVE THE DUPLICATES FOR IT NOT TO TAKE UP THAT SPACE?

FOR EXAMPLE ON Base Units A2 --155.467500 IS THE SAME AS McAllen DPS --155.467500
McAllen DPS-155.460000 IS THE SAME AS Base Units A1 DPS--155.460000

I JUST WOULD HATE TO WASTE ALL THAT SPACE ON THE SCANNER I UNDERSTAND THAT IT HAS ALOT OF ROOM TO STORE BUT I GUESS THAT IS JUST ME.

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK??????

WHAT IS NAC'S ????
