Other than DPS 460.425 and DPS 460.025, what other law enforcement would there be to listen to specifically targeting I-17 traffic? I make this drive often, and I know I am missing some "local" agencies. Thanks!

DPS will be the primary law enforcement agency on I-17. I would pay close attention to the frequencies you have listed.
You can also monitor Yavapai and Coconino sheriff. They will sometimes do stops on I-17, and will assist DPS for larger incidents.

Yavapai County Sheriff

Coconino County Sheriff

ADOT is nice to monitor if there are accidents or temporary closures. ADOT channels have good information on the status of closures, especially when you are stuck in the middle of a temporary closure for an accident. ADOT uses AZWINS Roadway Talkgroup 1102 through Yavapai County. I'm not sure what is used closer to Flagstaff.

Monitor Yavapai County SO from the Maricopa/Yavapai county line up to the area between SR 69/SR 169. They run more traffic there than DPS does from Anthem to Munds Park.

Coconino County tends to stay off the Interstate, unless enroute to or from a call.

DPS is, well, sometimes on the road.

ADOT is a darn good group to monitor and with I-17 being a parking lot at times, more important to monitor than DPS.

Other good groups include AZ State Fire and USFS Fire during this time of the year. Many fires start around or involve I-17 and other highways that connect, so knowing is a fire is heading to the highway can be critical.

For U.S. Forest Service activity you should monitor all the nets of the Tonto NF, Prescott NF and once north of Camp Verde monitor the Coconino NF. You should also program the air to air and air to ground frequencies for the Phoenix, Prescott and Flagstaff dispatch zones. Look up the National Interagency Fire Center under the Nationwide Frequency Tab in the RR Database. Here is a shortcut:

National Interagency Fire Center Large Fire Comm System

If there is a large fire near the interstate, having these freqs will provide some interesting listening.

@GlobalNorth Thanks, what channel specifically on Yavapai?

If I recall, it is 155.4375 MHz for the Camp Verde area. The county is divided into two areas - Nora [North] and Sam [South] and has been realigned since the latest Sheriff took over. The people I knew at YCSO have left or retired, so I don't have current information on the realignment.

If you are concerned about speed enforcement, when you pass the Rock Springs exit and approach the SR 69 exit - throttle down, get into lane 2, and set your cruise control at 65 MPH. YCSO sits at the junction of I-17 and SR-69 which is downhill [going N-bound]. Occasionally, it is DPS in their low profile SUVs.

For YCSO, you can try (South to North):

151.3250 (114.8 Hz) and 154.7400 (114.8 Hz) in the Black Canyon City area.
151.2275 (114.8 Hz) in the Cordes Junction area.
155.4375 (114.8 Hz) in the Camp Verde area.

155.5950 (110.9 Hz) Tac 1
155.5800 (114.8 Hz) Tac 2

I cannot confirm these are accurate, but that's what's listed in the RRDB.

YCSO also has several mobile extender channels:
465.0625 (114.8 Hz) Black Canyon City area
460.0625 (67.0 Hz) F1-Extender A
465.0625 (67.0 Hz) F1-Extender B
453.4875 (67.0 Hz) F2-Extender B

Again, these are from the RRDB. These are supposed to be short-range channels, linking a deputy's UHF handheld radio to their VHF-High mobile radio. However, when I was up there in the last year or two, at least one or two seemed to have wide-area coverage like a mountain-top repeater. Unless there was an un-marked YCSO vehicle close by me the whole way on SR-69 between Prescott and Cordes Junction, then down I-17.

I don't know if the Camp Verde Marshall ever patrols I-17, but they're on 158.7900 (136.5 Hz) for dispatch and 155.6850 (136.5 Hz) and 159.1800 (136.5 Hz) for their Tactical channels.

For fire, Daisy Mtn Fire & Medical Department now covers the Black Canyon City area, and is dispatched by the Phoenix FD Regional Dispatch Center. 154.1900 (173.8 Hz) is A-1 dispatch, and 151.3700 (173.8 Hz) is A-10 fireground. DMFMD fire station 143 is in Black Canyon City.

Black Canyon City FD's old channels were 155.7450 (192.8 Hz) South Command, 155.1750 (110.9 Hz) North Command, and 154.2200 (192.8 Hz) Tactical. I don't think they're still used any longer.

Mayer FD covers the Cordes Junction area. 151.1675 (123.0 Hz) is Channel 2 East Command. 153.7700 (123.0 Hz) is Channel 3 Tactical.
453.9375 (67.0 Hz) and 458.9375 (67.0 Hz) link the main station to Cordes Junction, and back again. Listen to both.

Sedona FD dispatches Camp Verde FD. 154.0100 (136.5 Hz) is Dispatch. The tac repeater for the Camp Verde area is on 154.4150 (136.5 Hz), and the tactical simplex is on 155.2200 (136.5 Hz).

Fire mutual aid is 154.2800.

Try 156.2250 (103.5 Hz) for ADOT in addition to the AZWIN TG once North of Carefree Highway and up through Yavapai County. And 156.1050 (103.5 Hz) in Coconino County.

Let us know if these work for you.
