Not quite true. DPS is most definitely using the YRCS/AZWIN TRS system around the state.

The non-patrol DPS guys are very active on it, mostly encrypted.

Catching quite a few of the Zebra, Ida, and Nora units on CI-Central and CI-South.

Patrol, specifically, the motor guys, were testing the ability to communicate within the Phoenix area on the local TRS systems, as well as, their legacy systems.

If you aren't looking there, you might be missing some activity. I travel all around the state on a routine basis, and can tell you that more and more there is activity on the YRCS/AZWIN TRS sites.

Took your advice and ran Pro96 while I was on a job-site, this was a few hours during the day but there is a lot of activity that isn't in the database and I didn't expect. This was off the south mountain site in Tukee.

Just off the top of my head 10xx are DPS related, 11xx are ADOT related.

2003 is always encrypted, so no ID :(

I'll have to look at the three digit ones and see what I have gleaned, some are "common" frequencies, where I have seen ADOT/DPS/and others use.

Here is what I can add to your list: Some is confirmed in the database or by me, and some is speculative based on RIDs. I'll add a couple more to the database.

Recently, I've been hearing TG 1095. It sounded like prisoner movments. Is ADOC using the YRCS?

John,

Yep, already updated in the database. Started noticing it on the 15th. It's the same traffic as 156.09mhz.

Talkgroup 1003, what is PTOC?

I also noticed that ADOT has reduced their districts from 9 to 7. Sunday we drove to Kingman and then yesterday from Kingman to Phoenix. I copied 156.225 very well and heard a unit dispatched to some type of call on AZ 68 on Monday night. I later coped 156.135 in Kingman, but could not hear any unit numbers or id of the dispatchers. On the trip south on 93 I heard 156.225 and again 156.135 in the Wikieup area. I had 156.135 programmed as the Holbrook District, but wondered if I was somehow hearing the Yuma District instead. As a district, Globe is now gone, its area divided up between the Southeast District (Safford) and the Northeast District (Holbrook). My former landlord near Bellemont told me that maintenance units used the first letter of the old districts (F for Flagstaff, K for Kingman, etc.) followed by the #5, followed by the number of the maintenance station, followed by the unit #. Now the new districts have three for the north, three for the south and then the central district in Phoenix. So there are the Northwest, North Central and Northeast districts and same for the south. I looked at ADOT website and there aren't any district numbers so I'm not sure of how units are numbered now. Phoenix district units used to id as E for engineering and M for maintenance followed by three numbers starting with a 7 or 8.

Does anyone know what the current callsigns are? Does anyone have current frequency information reflecting the new 7 district organization? Do each of the districts have dispatchers or is there a statewide dispatch center?

Kendrick,
Good comments and questions, guess we will have to do some more homework :)

Had an interesting interaction yesterday in Globe when I stopped for lunch at the McDonald's, there was a DPS Sgt there and I casually struck up a conversation with him about his APX, without saying too much he hinted that they were getting ready to (and I quote) "start testing on the new megahertz system". He went on to say that it was a small group in that area which I found odd since I didn't know the system was setup out there. In any event something to watch for in the coming months!

Also unrelated, 1108 which was listed as an ADOT channel has had a surveillance running since yesterday.

Yea, Sam units were on TG 1108 today. They switched back "to the main channel" at around 3 or 4pm.

I believe it was DPS. It did not sound like anything ADOT Enforcement officers would have been involved in.
That isn't to say that DPS wasn't borrowing an ADOT Enforcement channel.

The UHF system will remain for a while, the money was spent to narrowband and update the 31 sites with new repeaters. BTW that is why the EMSCOM sytem went away. State did not want to spend the money on over 100 repeaters for a EMS system in which most ambulances do not need online medical direction.

The NE part of the state does not have 800 coverage via YRCS. However there are long term plans to upgrade, however it all depends on money, and grants, which funded alot of the current system, are drying up. As for the VHF part I thought there was still some use of the VHF in Cocinono and Yavapai. . According to FCC, there are still current licences on 154.935 for mobiles. I think the PAC-Rts are gone.
