And to continue the mystery....the last few days I've heard 8 Tom units on DPS Houston identifying and recovering stolen vehicles that are stationary, mostly in the city of Houston, and also working some traffic issues. Also AGxxx (Attorney General) units

DPS has been doing a lot of stolen motor vehicle enforcement lately. At least according to the posts on the authoritative web site Face Book.

Yea, but what are these 8 Tom units? It seems like they're doing what the old Motor Vehicle Theft Division used to do, but that was absorbed into CID. CID units in Region 2 are 82xx units.

Anyone have any idea what TCxxxx units are? I've just recently started to hear them on Austin DPS and I have no idea what they are. It's TC followed by a 4 digit number. I was thinking it could be a Travis County unit but they identify with their own unit numbers when they're on DPS. This sounds like units that use the DPS channel as their main working channel

What I was told was Burnet, Llano, and Blanco are the main areas it covers. But I've heard troopers being asked to assist other counties with pursuits in Williamson and Comal once. They also pop up on the different counties SO channels as well as the 7353 TG so they have two radios to work with. Which for most troopers is common nowadays.

The best channel to listen to for the whole Austin area is TG 3522. The 7353 TG doesn't even talk that often
