Hello,
I was given an old UHF Motorola DR3000 repeater that was struck by lightning that took out the transmit radio and the control boards. When turned on, none of the LEDs would light up, just the fans would come on. Both the control boards were replaced and they were able to get the power LED to light up and that was it. So the TX radio and RX radio was flipped around and the disabled light began to blink. Obviously it needs a new TX radio for it to function but since both the DR3000s and XPR84000s are EOL, the replacement radios (part number PMTE4004_) can't be found anywhere.
I was looking and noticed the radios in the repeater are identical to the XPR 4550 mobile radios. Is it possible to use an XPR 4550 as a replacement radio? Obviously the firmware would probably have to changed but does the XPR radio have the correct headers to connect to the RX radio and control boards? I was told the repeater had its radios flashed with US firmware.
Or better yet, does anyone know where I could get a PMTE4004_ radio for a fair price?
