Dragon launch downlink freq. Europe

Hi all
Back in the shuttle days during the first and last pass over Europe the shuttle used a AM downlink frequency (259.700 was it?) to a ground station which was relaid back to the US. Will the upcoming Dragon capsule use the same system or will they use a different and un-listenable downlink?

Very likley they'll use some of the old UHF SATCOM freqs (259.700 was one of several used during shuttle launch/revovery) but online records of the SpaceX radio licence applications mainly refer to C-band links.


( Different company but of interest....comms from Cosmic Girl were on Inmarsat yesterday)

Monitoring Times for Bob's original listing from the early 1990s which was then rehashed by Larry Van Horn as required for shuttle launches. Perhaps Teak Publishing website will have info.

The full lists of FLTSATCOM and subsequently UFO channels should be somewhere within the RR 'domain'?

Hi all,

We'll be in #hearsat on freenode IRC monitoring HF/UHF/S-Band etc from the Dragon flight later.

I'd be suprised if the spacecraft doesnt have any of the UHF AM radios on board for emergency comms, I'm guessing an abort would land in the sea somewhere. Its possible that recovery ships may be using FLTSATCOM.
