Drake SW1

Anybody here have experience with the Drake SW1 shortwave receiver? I have a chance to pick up one at a very reasonable price. I know that it is AM only but that's fine with me as I'm looking for a receiver for dx'ing BCB and AM shortwave only. I had a Drake SW8 years ago that I sold (and regret very much!) and it was a great receiver.

I never owned one - had a R7A for many years so I'm biased when I see a basic radio like this. But here's a few things I found with Google....

i dont know if anybody that has drake sw1 has tried hooking theres up to a power supply put i did it is a notoresly noisy radio and i gues for some reason it reduces the noise from the radio just thought it might help
