Yesterday there was a fairly large drill on the Potomac River involving Prince William and Charles County, MD. From what I could gather, a boat named the Miss Mallory was stranded and supposed to be sinking. Various scenarios of events were announced over the radio. 867.0125 [156.7] (8 Tac 2) was used for primary operations. 866.0125 [156.7] (8 Call) was also used. 867.5125 [156.7] (8 Tac 3) was used for coordinating medics. Units also used marine channel 22. On talkgroup 17632 of the Charles County TRS, EMA Admin was heard. (This talkgroup was active during the recent flooding in Charles.)

This was a fairly large-scale drill, as there were units from Fairfax, Alexandria (Fire Boat 201), and Prince George's participating. Eagle 1 (Park Police helo) and Trooper 8 (MD State Police helo) were also involved. Interestingly, Trooper 8 was pulled off the drill because dispatch advised that Trooper 8 was the only helo for the entire state. Eagle 1 landed at Leesylvania State Park.

Eventually, Miss Mallory sunk, and it was announced that the drill was now a salvage operation, because the boat had 1000 gallons of fuel onboard.

That's about as far as I listened. Did anyone else monitor this? Didn't see anything about it on the counties' websites.
