I dont know if this is the right forum but i figured i should give it a shot. I recently bid on a lot at govsteals after abunch of shots o vodka. So much so that i didnt even know i bid on anything until they started calling me telling me to pay. So far i've deduced that i can sell the SRS stuff but i have no clue what this other stuff is. The main 2 things were a "KA-band digital direct synthesizer" with no manufacturer info other than the power supplies from lambda, second was 4 RT-logic t400xr chassis, with all the cards. Ive read a few papers on the synthesizer (but am still clueless), but cant find anything about the rt-logic t400 thing for the life of me. Anyone able to explain what its for or what it is? the DDS is missing one of the box thingamagigs. DDS resized.jpgrtlogic inside.jpg

Looks like stuff I used to build at Hughes Aircraft.... It looks a little like satellite uplink/downlink equipment made by TIW (Toronto Iron Works) which is now now General Dynamics. I see a number of upconverter and downconverter modules.

Ka band satellite equipment is usually downconverted at the antenna from the 28-30GHz uplink and 20-22GHz downlink range to L-band 950-2150MHz then sent into the building. I would think your box takes in a spits out L-band as you would not be using any long lengths of coax at actual Ka band.

That/s ok, by the time you sober up, the FBI will come knocking wanting to buy that secret squirrel stuff back. They were drinking vodka as well.

I was looking for some old pics of TIW equipment and have not found any yet but I did find something I hand built that interfaced to TIW stuff so I copied their look and feel. Same chassis as most TIW gear and the Ka thing the OP has.

Ehh Update. I guess RT LOGIC , merged with KRATOSDEFENSE. Kratos sells 2 t400 products, either "Radar-Target-Simulators" or satellite telemetry, tracking, and command modems for satellite ground stations. I guess there isnt much of a civilian market for the target simulators.

Could anyone tell me what these little plastic stepped Cone's do? I am 99% sure they are plastic, glued to the top of the chip. I circled one in yellow, sorry picture is so huge. Anyways. thanks for the input.

The cones look like heatsinks glued on. I've used a satellite dish controller that looks similar to your third picture.

It is an Energy Dome Hat. When used in conjunction with an integrated circuit it improves the signal to noise ratio by reduction of Johnson-Nyquist noise : 1704870085545.png

I would love to see an up close picture of those cones and confirmation that they are plastic.

I wonder what the glue is that secures the EDH to the chip. It would have to conduct the "energy".

just how long does the military keep this **** in service, some of the "precision filters" transducer something somethings (dont wanna go look right now) have chips inside from 92, and have notes on the unit like "front panel replaced in april 11, batteries replaced in april 17". The Fluke 5700a and 5725 i bought from NNSS was last used in 1991 then sent to calibration, and appearently forgotten about when it came back. Then sold to me in 2019.

I get more annoyed when they spend trillions on development of a new fighter aircraft and then build 3 of them, or the US permits dozens to be sold to "friendly nations" enriching the M.I.C . Never mind that air to air combat is virtually non existent in modern warfare.
