Yesterday was my first day using DSD+2.165 and right off the bat I notices very bad decode on a p25 system. I thought it might be my antenna setup so I switched that around, no joy. So I used the exact same setup using DSDPlus 1.101 and decodes were perfect. I have both version using -f1. The feed to DSD is from unitrunker and I also used SDRSharp. I did not see anything in the text files that would make me believe that I can make a change for better decodes, any ideas.

Ideally the feed should be from FMP24 using a tcp connection to DSD+ that way you can have trunk following as designed by the tool suite on a P25 system. A feed from SDR# will not trunk follow, unitrunker will but has to use a VB cable which introduces possible issues that can be avoided.

What is certain is that FMP24/DSD+ combo (set up as directed) is well proven and provides excellent decoding of P25 systems... so the issue is elsewhere.

As in my post yesterday, the system that I am listening to is not a trunked system and DSD+2.165 can't be used for that purpose soooo I am piping the signal to the DSD application and it decodes the audio and Unitrunker does the trunk tracking. I can do the same thing with DSD+1.101 and it decodes the signal perfectly where DSD 2.165 has a lot of errors and sounds like crap?

Again, it's not a P25 system...

Yes, it is a trunked system, just not a P25 system.

You can:

a) try the latest and greatest Unitrunker; I hear it does the P25 audio itself (no DSD+)

b) try TRUNK88 plus DSD+

c) use Unitrunker plus DSD+ 1.101

Sorry, you said it was a P25 system in the first post. This post you are saying unitrunker does the trunk tracking but you also say it is not a trunked system.

More info could help folks help you.

But Unitrunker doesn't decode ap25 phase 2 which is what I want to prepare for in the event that I might need it in the future which is why I got DSD+2.165 lol. So in the mean time I was using the DSD appllication to decode the signal I am getting but it is awful, it is like I am not getting a good signal. If I use DSD1.101 I get a perfect signal decode with same setup.

Its a Motorola Smartzone II system with some digital talk groups using P25 digital voice.

If you want to be able to decode a P25 phase I and II it is best if you setup on a control channel of a P25 phase I system with fmp24/DSD+, when that is working it will automatically decode the phase I and II if they switch over to phase II.

DSD+ will only decode P25 phase II if fed by FMP24.

So, I was originally using Unitrunker and DSD!.101, the system I was listening to is Motorola Type 2 smartzone both analog and digital. Using this setup I was getting very good decodes. So I downloaded DSDFastlane version 2.165 and I have since found out that I can't trunk track the system I am interested in which is the Motorola Type 2. So I thought okay so maybe I will just use DSD2.165 like I was using DSD1.101, well the problem is that when I use DSD2.165 I get a signal decode to the equivalent of not using an antenna ( almost but not quite that bad but close ). I don't want to get into a discussion about trunk tracking as the problem is the signal received is low quality, that is what I want to clean up.

I don't know why there would be such a difference between DSD 1.101 and DSD 2.165. So all I am asking is if there is anything I can do to get a better decode.

Thanks

It's actually capital 'S' which is shift + 's'
DSDPlus -h:
S Toggle audio shaping filter

Lower case 's' is
s Close/reopen source audio waveform display

Bingo, that solved the problem. If I had looked closer at that " S" I would have seen it was a Capital S. Thank you all for your help, you guys are the best.
