I've had pretty good luck with DSD so far and looking to tweak it a little bit for better audio quality.

In the example below, could someone explain what target input value I should be aiming for?.
In addition, to the right of LDU1 and LDU2.... what do the dashes and random letters R and M signify?
Code:
Sync:  +p25p1   mod: C4FM [highlight]input: 91%[/highlight] nac:  396 src:  1004999 tg: 20205  LDU1  e:[highlight]=====[/highlight]
Sync:  +p25p1   mod: C4FM input: 87% nac:  BB6 src:  1004999 tg: 20205  LDU2  e:==========R=========R====
Sync:  +p25p1   mod: C4FM input: 91% nac:  3A6 src:  1004999 tg: 20205  LDU1  e:==========[highlight]R[/highlight]===

From the README file that comes with DSD:
"e:" is the beginning of the errorbars display. Each "=" indicates a detected error within the voice data. "R" and "M" indicat that a voice frame was repeated or muted due to excessive errors.

input level.....that will vary IMHO depending on the soundcard/scanner setup you have. I'd suggest anywhere between 10% and 50% to start. . Use your soundacrd input level to get if down to this level. You'll have issues with anything over 80%.

BTW what version of DSD are you using: I thought only the early versions had "input" later versions had "inlvl" (short for input level).

Thank you Jim.

I looked everywhere for the info but the README file....LOL

I'm using version 1.1, which I see now isn't the latest.

I suspect most of my quality issue is from the radio I'm using as well as the audio levels.

Despite the errors, the audio is quite readable, but has an occasional pop or click in the audio.

Thanks again for the explanation.

Happy to help.

In my experience the most important factors in getting better decodes on DSD are: input volume, strong signal strength on your scanner, sampling rate of the soundcard and the power of your PC.

Despite the filter that's been added to the Windows version by Woodpecker, I find DSD on Ubuntu is still vastly superior. Of course it would be even better if we could get a Ubuntu version of DSD with Woodpecker's filter added to it.
