Picking up a local unencrypted PD talkgroup on a new P25 Phase 2 system with DSD+ fastlane.
The event log displays:
Group call; TG=10005 Src = EXTERNAL

What does EXTERNAL mean? It's not an alias that I assigned.

"External" probably means the tg has an active patch from another system. For example, our state's DNR police has a legacy VHF system which patches some of its conventional repeater channels to its corresponding tg on the new statewide 700 TRS. The src= value is usually a RID which is likely not feature on the patched system.

AHhh ... cool. Thanks for the explanation. As this system is in transition from an old system, it seems reasonable to think they have patched both systems together.

I see this with a local system as well, one metro region is digitally encrypted however the remainder of the region isn't and is on analogue - anything coming through analogue comes up with an external tag (yes, running an encrypted TG patched voids the encryption on the analogue side)
