I have a Fastlane sub. I also have an RSP2. So I know that Fl can control the receiver for trunking. Cool.
The big mystery is the guy with a receiver with discriminator out or an SDR running through one of the many applications that supports them is.
For voice decoding only what IS the difference from DSD+ standalone (free) versus paid?

I know we get an .exe file and sometimes a few extras in the updates. What about the average Joe used to the various sound card decoders who runs DSD+ and is savvy enough to enter voice channels and identify different voice channels into a stand alone receiver with scanning capabilities.
Take for instance my IC-R8600 or IC-R8500, RSP2. If a person with DSD+ free sits on a voice channel that becomes active, will it decode any different than Fastalne?

I'm in the process of working a feature request for one of the popular SDR applications to provide integration of a functional and customizable lookup table to insert various CAT control hex values to mimic or enable trunking of any receiver that uses it. To allow using different radios than the RTL based and SDRPlay that DSD+ locks you into.

Does this make sense?

Yes and no. It doesn't decode any "different", however it can decode more (AVL, Messaging services just to name a few) than what the free version contains

There have been tweaks to the audio quality over the years too on the different modes, but of course every perceives those changes differently.

A read through the change log will reveal that DSD FL will add: dPMR voice decoding, much better Fusion decoding, better handling of encrypted DMR voice (mutes vs I think Basic didn't), better DMR RAS decoding, D-Star voice decoding. massive difference on Audio recording functionality. That's just a list of what improvements you will hear, vs the massive improvements on what you can see with FL.

So since the .exe in 1.0.1 is different than Fastlane, that means with a discriminator output or I/Q from an SDR no interaction with FMPX is necessary to get voice decoding to work? Am I correct in assuming this?
In other words any new voice decoding capabilities are solely in the executable file?
I guess a flowchart or a "wiring diagram" of the entire operation would be helpful.
I can't really find either.

Sorry for my off topic post ... just a quick question ...
Where and how can I buy DSD+ Fastlane and where can I get info on features?
Their website is stuck in 2018.

Info from DSDPlus text file included in the public release that explains how to acquire FastLane --

"
DSD+ Fast Lane
--------------

Early access to features is being offered through the DSD+ Fast Lane program.

Fast Lane updates are expected to be released about once per month.

Some Fast Lane updates WILL have issues/bugs. That is the nature of alpha software.

Fully tested public releases will continue to be released, approximately every 6 months.

In light of the extra workload the Fast Lane program will create,
the DSD+ team is asking Fast Laners for:

US$10 for one year of Fast Lane updates

US$25 for unlimited Fast Lane updates

Donations above these amounts are welcomed, but it's up to you.
We're not looking to get rich here. Funds will be used for things like
needed hardware upgrades.

Funds can be sent our Paypal account (dsdplusfastlane@gmail.com)

Please include a comment that specifies the email address that
your Fast Lane updates should be sent to.

NOTE: IF YOU DO NOT INCLUDE A COMMENT, PAYPAL DOES NOT SEND US A NOTIFICATION.
THIS *WILL* DELAY YOUR FIRST FAST LANE UPDATE."
