DSDFL Not recognizing some talkgroups

I'm following a T3 system here in NZ and have a small issue.

I have been using DSD since day one and know it very well. I'm motioning a T3 system here in NZ, I have all the correct frequencies and LSNs programmed. DSD tracks this system very well BUT for some strange reason it won't recognize talks groups 1000-1100 when they transmit.

I have my SDS100 sitting beside my computer with DSD running and they both follow the system perfect but once a talkgroup between 1000-1100 transmits, the SDS100 will hear it but DSDFL will miss it every time. I doesn't even show in the event window or any logs. Why doesn't this talkgroup range come through?

My question is, is there something programmed into those talk groups at their end that DSD can't decode or is it a DSD setting I've over looked.

So DSD with pickup talkgroups from 500-999 then 1099-1200 but not inbetween even though they are defiently transmitting as the SDS100 can hear them.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

What do the lines for tg 1000-1100, if any, look like in your groups file?

And also, you don't mention a system or location. Is the system in the database and if so, can you post a link to it?

Nope there are no lines as it never receives a transmission for it to be logged.

No its not in the database. Could there be something that is being transmitted with those particular talkgroups that DSD doesn't know about therefore doesn't decode them?

Are the scanner and DSD on the same frequency when the transmissions occur? Maybe try manually steering DSD to the frequency programmed that usually carries those calls and see if it can decode them that way

Okay done some more poking after Kazzaw's tips. When a call came though on the SDS100 I noted the frequency it was happening on then went to DSD FMP24 and as always the call wasn't coming through so I manually entered the frequency into FMP24 and hit enter and then it went there and started to decode normally.

I noticed in the event window the called was coming through as 'Bcast group call' whereas all the others are group call or private call.

So yes it decodes those talkgroups but doesn't explain why DSD won't automatically do it like the other talkgroups.

Do I need to modify something in DSD for Bcast group calls?

If its vital T3 system from memory those Tgs could be private calls

Tgs could be private calls

Look in your radios file and see if any -1 show up relating to the missing tg's

From the radios file

; DSD+ 2.395; radio records
; this file is populated automatically by DSD+
; you can edit this file while DSD+ is running
; line format: protocol, networkID, group, radio, priority, override, hits, timestamp, "radio alias"
;
; special group values:
;
; -1: only private calls seen
; -2: group unknown

If they were private calls, those numbers would be the radio number and not a talkgroup number. So if an agency you are monitoring uses the radio ID range 1000-1100, that would be the ones doing the private calls.
You can also pick what radios you want to hear in private calls by changing the priority in the Radio file to one above the threshold. It will not make a difference in a group call but will block or allow that ID in a private call.

If my tip is working do you have the .frequencies folder filled out correctly? If so, can you see the private call info?

Screenshots of the DSDPlus activity window would be helpful, both when on the control channel and when manually tuned to the frequency

Another question, when there is a group call the call keeps displaying even though there is only one transmission. So as you can see below a user has started talking and instead of it just being one line with the seconds ticking over it keeps loading more lines as the user keeps talking. Is this normal for T3?

Yes it's correct and yes private calls (brown colour) come through just not Bcast calls

I will do some screen shots shortly

If its vital T3 system from memory those Tgs could be private calls
I beleive they are Bcast group calls
