You should [now] be able to download the DLL file that you attempted to download before -- the one you specified in one of your previous posts.

Mike,

I was able to download the libfftw3f-3.dll . Whatever you did worked. Thank you. I'm now chasing the following error:

"The code execution cannot proceed because lame_enc.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."

I downloaded and pasted to DSDplus the one from this location: lame_enc.dll free download | DLL‑files.com

But received the checksum error once again.

Would you have a link to a working copy of lame_enc.DLL as welll ? Sorry to be so needy.

Is this cause for concern? Within the DSD+ command window:

Initiating FMPx link using link ID 20001...
FMPx link error = -5
[Server is not listening on selected link ID]

I allowed access through my firewall to: DSD+.exe , as well as the other .exe files ( FMP, FMP24, etc.) and turned off my VPN. Any thoughts? Thank you.

DSD+ is expecting you to feed it via one of the FMP programs and is trying to make a non-networked (shared memory or something) connection to them. In Notes.txt, read up on Using DSD+ with external signal sources and/or Using DSD+ with supported SDR devices.

None of that should be required. I'd undo all of that.

OK. I changed my firewall settings back. Thanks for that. I will read Notes.txt as you suggested. In case it's useful to know.... With DSD+ 1p 101 I was successfully using a "Cable input (VB audio virtual cable) cable as output from SDRuno & input to DSD+ ( the exact settings were "-i2 -o2". ) When I start Fastlane the header of the command window states:

Assuming FMPA/FMPP/FMP24 is signal source; auto polarity detect is disabled

audio output device #1 = 'Speakers (Realtek High Definiti'
audio output device #2 = 'CABLE Input (VB-Audio Virtual C'
audio output device #3 = 'Panasonic-TV (NVIDIA High Defin'
audio output device #4 = 'Realtek Digital Output (Realtek'

audio output device #1 (Speakers (Realtek High Definiti) initialized

So I changed: FMPA CC, FMPP CC, & FMP24 CC to -i2 -o1 could this be a mistake and the cause of my problem?

You should have left the batch files exactly as they came. Then you just fire up DSDPlus Fast Lane and use the menu system to get everything to connect.

For instance, if you were using default batch files, you could fire up FMP24 or FMP (depending upon the type of SDR unit you are using) and then , in DSDPlus use the CTRL menu to select "Combined CC/VC Monitor" and in INPUT menu select "use Direct FMPx linking" and in the Output specify your output device.

With you having edited some batch files, it may not work out quite so easily now.

The learning curve is steep. I wasn't prepared. I put the original bat files back. Having an SDRplay RSP1A I executed FMPP.exe. ( FMP24 and FMP seem to be for RTL ) I get the wave form displayed (looks like I'm receiving signal), and the CMD window states that the correct output has been set ( Realtek High def....). It also pulled in the frequency list from FMP-Freqlist.csv. Where you lost me was:

" in DSDPlus use the CTRL menu to select "Combined CC/VC Monitor" and in INPUT menu select "use Direct FMPx linking" and in the Output specify your output device. "

Thinking you instructed me to open DSD+and expecting to find a GUI with the menu you described, I did so. It opens a command window that says:

"Initiating FMPx link using link ID 20001...
FMPx link error = -5
[Server is not listening on selected link ID]. "

And I don't know how to access the Control menu you mentioned. I have 5 panes: "FMPP in 1 out 1", the FMPP wave form, 1R DSD+, DSD 1R event log, and the "channel activity" bar. Is the CTRL menu access via one of these?

Thanks Mike.

Mike,

Please disregard my last reply. I reloaded everything from scratch. Now DSD+ shows the menu you spoke of. I checked and all of the settings defaulted to what you stated. I think I'm good as far as setup. I haven't decoded anything yet, but I think that's because I need to choose proper freqs. Right now I'm on 478Mhz for Morris TRS in NJ. I'll have a better understanding soon. Thank you so much for getting me started.

Hint: WHEN you have focus on the FMPP window (for instance, after you have clicked on the FMPP window with your mouse), you can then just type frequencies and hit enter to change freq.

478.0 <enter>
478.45 <enter>
478.475 <enter>

One of them (according to the DB) is the control channel. Assuming you are within distance of it, you should easily be able to pick it up and should quickly start seeing DSDPlus display things (and even play audio for non-ENC talkgroups assuming you have Combined CC/VC Monitor set).

When focused on FMPP, press ? for a list of commands -- BUT, don't press any of the commands unless you are absolutely sure about what they do and their ramifications. One wrong command and you no longer get a decode and are scratching your head.

And remember, certain signals require different bandwidth settings ( pressing "b" when focused on FMPP). NXDN48 is 4.0, NXDN96 and DMR are 7.x, P25 Phase I C4FM is 9.5, P25 Phase II TDMA is 12.5, LSM/*PSK is 12.5. If you have Bandwidth set for 4.0 and are trying to monitor a P25 system, forgetaboutit. Probably best not to play with "b" too much. But it's easy enough to toggle between the widths by just pressing "b" multiple times when focused on FMPP. And you'll see the BW change at the top of the FMPP screen.

Mike,

I'm now comfortable with the controls ( the basic ones you provided ). In FPP I've set: Freq (478Mhz), appropriate band width (12.5Hz for P25). Thanks for the lesson. I haven't received decoded audio yet. DSD+ event log 1r settings:
Input - Direct FMPx linking
Decoder - All & later P25 only,
Control - Combined CC/VC monitor.

So I'm not sure what's up. I'll keep fiddling with it. But check this out.... I closed FPP, opened SDRuno ( output to VBcable ) then opened DSD+ Control settings to passive digital
Input VBcable
Decode to P25 only.

And it works VERY well. Which was my main goal. Thank you for getting me there.
All of that makes me think FPP and DSD+ aren't fully communicating. On 478Mhz DSD+ updates with system info, but there's no decoded audio. I'm going to let it run for a while to see if gathering data changes things. ONLY after I've mastered this will I reply FORGETABOUTIT :)

Ray ( aka. Youtube JustsomeGuy ) Been watching your vids too.

If you weren't decoding audio with FMPP+DSDPlus, I'm not sure how you would be if you were running SDRUno --> VB Cable --> DSDPlus, since you would not be trunking with that setup -- you would only be parked on the control channel (which wouldn't have voice traffic).

Anyway, it oughta work. But I've never used an RSP so maybe there is something different to do with FMPP vs FMPA or FMP24.

Mike,

I was sort of backing away because I've taken so much of your time, and didn't want to ask for more than you've already provided. I open FMPP, set the freq to 478.0 set the band width to 12.5 then open DSD+, set input to direct FMPx linking, Decoding to P25 or all, and control to combined CC/VC monitor and all I hear is the static from the input. and the 1R DSD+ panel keeps repeating

"initializing FMPx link using link id 20001 ...
FMPx link error - -5
(server is not listening on selected link ID)

My brain hurt at that point, so I fooled with SDRuno with DSD+ and got some satisfaction. I haven't improved to the point I could go back to FMPP with a solution. I even looked at the config files again ( I didn't change anything ). But I was wondering if FMPP.cfg shold have an entry where it says "DSD+ path . In my case that would be C:\DSD+.exe I think..... Having no path maybe causes the error listed above? I'm still learning, so I'm sure it's something I'm just not aware of yet. Thanks again for everything. I hope you're all good after this storm. We got crushed here in Northern NJ.
