I'm new to DSD+ FL and trying to decode NXDN NEXEDGE 4800. Local fire dept about 2 miles from my home. I've gotten a lot of help on the forum and it seems like everything is now working except never get any audio/voice. I have 4 dongles but only have 1 plugged in. Iam only running 2 files. ir.bat and FMP24 cc.
Any suggestions appreciated. In the screenshot below, 1 of the group calls was 18 seconds and I heard nothing. I've got something setup wrong or need to start additional files or something else is missing.

You don't have DSDPlus.Networks and DSDPlus.Sites and DSDPlus.frequencies set up properly. If you did, you would see frequencies in the pane where you see 1/2/3/4.

Is this system that you are monitoring in the RRDB somewhere? And if it is, can you point to where it is? If it isn't, can you tell us what county/state/country you are copying it in?

And maybe provide us with the frequency of the current control channel as well.

Nevermind - I see you already provided a link to the system

I just want to say this about that.

I was helping him set all this up and because I had not done a NXDN system in a long time, I started a fresh copy of fastlane without any freqs, sites or network files populated with any info. (see below) I tuned to a local NXDN cc and it ran with it. Populated channel numbers and decoded voice. I never added anything to networks, sites or frequencies files and I get voice and it trunk tracks properly..

I am scratching my head with this.

Some NXDN systems are DFA (direct frequency access or something like that) and will work sort of like a P25 system, where the control channel is broadcasting all of the relevant info. But most NXDN systems are likely non-DFA at this point until they are replaced at some point with DFA systems. That's probably why for a system you monitored you did not need to enter anything in the files for it to work.

Ok so when I get back from the doctor's visit. I will attempt to put in the Networks, Sites and Frequencies information. Those files don't seem to give an edit option when you right click on them and if you just try and open, it asks what program do you want to open them with?

That sounds like a good plan.

Use a text editor to edit them (Notepad is all that is needed)
After you are done with populating the Network, Site, and Frequency files, be sure you have the correct option under control, Combined CC/VC Monitor. If you have Passive Digital Monitor, it will not follow a call. CC Monitor and VC Monitor are for 2 SDR setups.

Thank you Chris. Will do when I get back to it. I was wondering if I would eventually need more than one dongle since the frequencies are more than 2.4mHz apart but I can figure that out later. Just trying to get sound right now. CC was one thing yesterday and today it's a different frequency, still one of the 4 though.

Some NXDN systems are DFA

Last night was the first I ever heard of DFA as a db admin pointed it out to me. I ran LCN finder on my 436 on the system I linked before and it is indeed a DFA. Which explains now why I got sound right out of the gate.

I ran another NXDN cc into the fresh Fast Lane. I am not getting audio on that but it is populating the channel numbers for each freq. The OP keeps getting ch 1, 2, 3 & 4 which is also what's listed in the db. Can those be the correct channel numbers?

I was just doing the freqs file for you. You just need the site number (1)

Add the red 1 as shown in each line after the net id, and before the ota (channel number)

and dont add "; 464 1 Atascocita Fd" as dsd will do that automatically

I also do not believe you need the trailing 1 2 3 4 (sort order) on the end of the lines.

Cut paste yes. Don't add "; 464 1 Atascocita Fd" as dsd will do that automatically and after you run yours, dsd will add ;Confirmed. Thats what your site in named.
