DSDPlus DSDPlus working fine on one computer, cannot get it running on new computer... stumped

so on my old laptoip I have a single dongle setup using DSDPlus and FMPA and it has been running fine for years now..
on my new laptop I copied the folder from the old one and cannot get it to work
it says "SDR device #1 is in use" and "RTL SDR device #2 not found"
then it tells me that single receiver mode requires FMPA link

im using the exact same folder that works on the old laptop

this is what my batch file looks like

again, that works perfectly with a single dongle on the old laptop.
what the heck am i missing?
ive tried using the latest public version, the latest fast lane, switching drivers, etc

i realize that FMPA is set to used device #2 ( -i2 )
this is how i have it working on my old laptop with only one device connected

if i change it to to device #1 on the new laptop, it runs into that device being in use, which it is not
there is nothing running using that device. i can reboot the computer and just run my batch file and it tells me device 1 is in use

and if i change it to -i1 then it runs into device #1 being in use, which it is not. and thats with closing everything, rebooting, unplugging and plugging back in, etc

It's an rtl-sdr, I've tried my old v3 and a v4. The drivers are installed correctly and it works with sdr#. It just isn't working with fmpa, or I should say, it is showing up as being in use.

You say are you using a dongle and then are using FMPA. When one says dongle on here, it is generally thought of a standard RTL dongle. The Airspy (mini), although in "dongle" form, isn't considered an RTL dongle. It's not a Realtek device.

So are you using an actual RTL dongle? Or an Airspy/Airspy mini?

If a dongle, use FMP24, not FMP

And, when in doubt, use what you are supposed to use (FMPA-CC.bat / 1R.bat for Airspys, and FMP24-CC.bat / 1R.bat for RTL dongles)

And make sure you haven't put any of that into a windows protected folder. Always best to either put it in c:\dsdplus or in c:\users\<username>\desktop\dsdplus.

I've tried with my RTL-SDR Blog V3 and V4, which work fine on the other laptop running FMPA. I run it from a folder on the C drive just like on the other laptop where it works just fine. It's showing that the device is in use. No matter what I do or what batch file I run.

No. FMPA is for Airspys. If you have a V3 or V4 dongle, you have to use FMP24

It doesn't matter what you say or think, you are wrong about this. FMPA will never work with a V3/V4 dongle, just like FMP24 will never work with an Airspy.

Whether you are using public or FL, please just try the defaults (which are always recommended)

No funky batch jazz. Verify that it works. If it doesn't work at this point, you need to re-run Zadig because the drivers were not installed properly.

Well maybe it's been renamed for some reason or another. The fact is that the batch file I posted originally, with the executables in the folder, works fine with my V3 on my other laptop and has for 6 years.

In fact it's running right now since I couldn't get it to work on this new laptop. Using the same exact batch file and executable files, with a V3. And yet on the new laptop, with the exact same set of files, it opens just fine but says my device is in use.

The drivers have been installed and replaced and Uninstalled and reinstalled 75 times at this point.

The only difference is that for whatever reason on the old laptop in the batch file needs to point to device #2 even though only one device is connected.

I do see that the FMPA in the folder from the old laptop is in fact FMP24 that was apparently renamed by me for whatever reason 6 years ago. So I will try using the latest version of everything and correct it to fmp24. But this does not explain why the same working folder that runs fine on one machine does not on the new machine. I’m glad that you Admitted to having rename the file at some point. Because under no circumstance will the proper FMPA work with a dongle or FMP24 with an airspy

If you reboot and do nothing other than to try and run FMP24-cc.bat and it tells you that a device is in use, then it’s a driver issue.

You really need to go through a nuke anything that looks like an RTL driver or RTL device from your device manager. Then go back in, and run Zadig, and I do that with admin privileges.

And if you’re running a V4 dongle, I think there is a specific DLL for that although I can’t remember and I’m not in front of a computer right now

well now we're maybe getting somewhere. it still shows device 1 in use, but the sdr is showing up as device #2.
buuuuuuut... it is giving me "rtlsdr_V4.dll is missing" even though rtlsdr_V4.dll is in fact in the folder because it ships with DSDPlusFull these days.

New laptop, DSD+ is not detecting rtlsdr_V4.dll even though it's right there in the folder. I'm sure it's something small I'm missing. I've run ZADIG and the v4 is working in sdrsharp without issue. Any suggestions? I have updated the base files, replacing all DLL and EXE and CFG files.

New laptop, DSD+ is not detecting rtlsdr_V4.dll even though it's right there in the folder. I'm sure it's something small I'm missing. I've run ZADIG and the v4 is working in sdrsharp without issue. Any suggestions? I have updated the base files, replacing all DLL and EXE and CFG files.

i finally got it up and running.
