I believe that version 1.4 was the last PRO-96 firmware update. This is the one I currently have installed. On the site it has a "Date added" of 2007-02-20.

1.4 is it, and most likely the last, and it may not be the best solution for everyone. Make sure you read the release notes to see if it will really benefit your settings.

also in the last batch of ' 96s the CPU was 1.5

Correct me if I'm wrong, but CPU was changed to 1.5 due to a hardware change I believe. Not anything new vs. the 1.4 CPU.

Depending on the age of the scanner the CPU can be 1.3, 1.4, or 1.5.
The DSP-APP can be 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, or 1.4 with 1.4 being the final upgrade available.
Don't confuse the CPU version number with the DSP-APP version number. Two whole different things.
