When many (not all) of my local fire departments are being dispatched you will hear the A-B tone and then what is sounds like DTMF beeps followed by another set of the same A-B tone, and for one station in particular you will hear A-B, DTMF beep, A-B tone,A-B tone again. In all of these scenarios the A-B tones stays the same just some fire stations have A-B tone followed by nothing and then other stations have A-B tone followed by DTMF beeps and more A-B tones, Is this still considered two- tone paging or is it something else?

Here is how my FD setup is done.. most FDs have their tones set for twice.. usually just in case they get stepped on the fire time...
first time.. firecom sets off DTMF tones which activates an encoder which sets off my A-B tones from a base station in my firehouse followed by a wake up "warble"... this provides a nice clear set of tones within our fire district.. firecom voice follows from one of their transmitters... there is then a second set of DTMF tones which activates the firehouse siren through my FD base station. The second set of A-B tones comes directly from Firecom providing a signal which travelers further and will activate members pagers at a greater distance..
that's it.. pretty simple operation as we are a small dept...

We have a similar setup, county gives a pretone announcement of the call, tones drop, dtmf tones drop to trigger our transmitter at the station, then a quick AB burst followed by 6 B chirps, then dispatch from county.
