Hearing nonstop bad language, idiocy and "hey these radios get out real far" on TG 10083 with radio ID's 126017, 126078, 126081 and 126087.

Been ongoing for awhile on the Weld Simulcast system as of this post.

That is very interesting, I've been closely tracking RTD TG's for several months and I've never seen a Pro96Com Affiliation from 10083, yet alone any voice grants (I do have it programmed in my scanner as an "unknown" RTD TG). I wasn't even aware RTD used the Weld Simulcast site, I guess that would be for certain parts of the Boulder-Longmont area.

It could be disgruntled/ex employees of one of their many, many contractors. My impression is that RTD limits distribution of portable radios to a relatively small group of people (supervisors, security and mechanics). However, one would think it would be fairly difficult to steal mobile radios, let alone operate them in a "stand-alone" fashion. So who knows...

I wouldnt count on the radios being stolen. With a couple hundred bucks and a couple weeks time I was able to buy digital trunking radios, program the systems, and assign them RIDs that are already on the system. And I can key up on said systems fairly easily (although I took precautions to make it so it couldnt be done THAT easily). Google was my friend, and can be anyone else's too.

Maybe RTD was doing some "side work" because of the playoff game today, and had some guys out there working that usually don't get out---Just a thought

I'm fairly certain (98+%) this TG did not appear on any of the Denver-Metro sites used by RTD today, particularly Auraria, State Capital, Denver TX, Chevron or Arapahoe Admin (among others). Also, my impression is that RTD distributes VERY few radios loaded with a large number of channels, like you often see with Fire or Police Departments. Rather, my impression is that unless you are a supervisor or dispatcher, your radio is pre-programmed with a very limited number of channels specific to your needs. Consequently if someone was using a radio properly issued to them by RTD, it seems unlikely they would have randomly "discovered" this TG for the first time by scrolling through a large bank of channels they don't normally use...
