A few techs were working late last night, talking about technical components on TG 8001. Sometime around midnight one unit asked the other if MONTROSE was ready to go (which it was). He then announced they could all go home because Zone 2 was now "talking" with Zone 3.

Units involved were:

COMM 8
COMM 101
COMM 400

Anyone know how the COMM units are numbered?

Communication Technician Radio Numbers

The Comm Units are broken down by division. The 1 & 2 digit numbers seem to be the Denver Admin/Engineering folks; the Techs are the 3 digit numbers. I think the 100’s are the northeast, I know the 400’s are the Western Slope and the 200’s seems to the Southeast. Not sure if there are any 300’s, have never heard any on the air.

Take a look at http://www.colorado.gov/dpa/doit/comm/maintsec.htm will probably explain the organization a little.

Bald Mountain T013D is still showing Zone 1, so far at least. But it’s showing affiliations with at least three new zone 3 sites.

Tower 352 T0334 868.8250 (Estes Park)
Tower 359 T033B 867.2750 (Drake)
Tower 363 T033F 868.7625 (Loveland)

Bald should be switched over by lunchtime Weds.

I'm betting they are saving a bundle on leased lines this way, running them to FTC rather than all the way down the state!
