sounds like some puter glitch that tripped the fire alarms & sprinklers at the mac...nothing "real" is wrong...they did start to evacuate the mac but then the FD canceled the evacuation. Hmmm...sounds interesting! that piled on top of a class 2 and an aircraft losing its tread on departure. They are just not having a good night!

Everything is hunky dory now...Johnson Controls reset the alarms. I would hate to be a fly on the wall in that meeting room tomorrow.

I can remember him telling about things like this happening all the time, sprinkler system goes off, alarm goes off, fire department responds. it used to happen regularly, in fact. at some businesses it happend 6 or 7 times a year!!!
It was a Big Pet Peeve for both the Fire Department and the Police Department, but it kept happening, year after year. You got to remember, false alarms and sprinklers going off are alot cheaper than replacing the alarm systems and the sprinkler systems!

I used to work down at DTW and SOP for the terminal is that after 2 minutes of the alarms and strobes sounding the checkpoints shut down normally the PD would ask us if we wanted that part of the terminal evacuated. Depending on the situation it normally did not happen and the checkpoints reopened without incident.
However Johnson controls, they run that terminal and if it did not cause any airline delays nothing will come of it.
