• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello, I could use some assistance with a schematic for a dual push-to-talk headset adapter. This is for the BTech GMRS V2 which has dual Tx/Rx capability with integrated dual PTT and uses the commonly found Kenwood 2-pin accessories connector (but could easily be adapted for other radios).

BTech and others make compatible daul PTT mic/speaker accessories, but they cannot adapt to any headset. There are also compatible PTT headset adapters, but they lack dual PTT. Thus, I hope to build my own headset adapter with dual PTT capability.

The Miklor website posted a schematic for dual PTT provided by N3PLA (see A in attachment). However, it is upside down relative to the way it would mount to a radio and the connector referenced from the BTech manual (see B in attachment). It is also a little confusing (at least to me) as it has an optional "serial jack". Thus, I have attempted to adapt it (see C in attachment).

Also attached is my plan to implement the headset adapter, depicted in a more visual "schematic". The color of the wires may be odd but that is simply because I used the colors used in my BTech QHM22D mic/speaker - which I plan to repurpose to make into the headset adapter.

Is my schematic a correct adaption of the dual PTT schematic on the Miklor website? Are there any suggestions to improve the circuit? Note that a 1:1 audio transformer has been added as I will be connecting other audio gear between the radio and the headphones. Also note that the audio signal is converted from mono to dual mono so audio will be heard on both sides of the headphones.

Before ordering parts, I would be grateful if someone with electrical knowledge can verify the planned circuit. It seems to be a simple project, but as an electrical newbie, I don't know what I don't know.
