• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Just curious of this is a thing.. or could make a cable to do this

I have a UHF and VHF XPR4550. Is it possible to have 1 control head operate both radios in a remote setup?

I have my Macom Orion set up like that. 1 control head controlling 2 radios with a button to switch between each radio.
Audio from both radios come thru the speaker and what not.

If this possible to do on the XPR 4550 radios? 2 radios 1 control head?

There's nothing official from Motorola to do that, I've never heard of anyone being able to do it (not even claiming to) and I don't think it would be very easy to any way. Would be nice though.

I figured as much when i googled it and nothing really at all came up

*Sigh*

Would be super to have the radios mounted in the trunk and not have to worry about running to control heads and all that annoyance. Things to ask santa for i guess

Yeah, especially with most modern vehicles and the lack of mounting space they have.

You got that right!. We need more remote head capable radios / scanners, space is at a premium on new cars these days..

Even the Harros M7300 no longer supports dual radio setups like the Orions did.
Can have 2 control heads on ONE radio.. but not ONE control head on 2 radios. That helps everyone out OH so much :)

Ditch the XPR and go to a Kenwood x90 series. Single & Dual head for dual deck options. If you're not committed to Trbo, then look into it.

They're rock solid, brick ****house radios.

Too bad the TK-x90 are limited to 160ch across BOTH radios... very limiting.

If you have the accessory connector (necessary to hookup such a cable), several pins are labeled so you don't have to guess. You will have to count to determine all of the others but it's not bad. Just remember that all the even pins are on one side.
