My wife, KD8SQJ insisted on a ham rig for her car, so I installed a Kenwood TM-V71A 2m 440, a Comet dualband antenna trunk lip mount and a remote head. It took 4 hours to install. I ran heavy gauge wires through a water proof rubber grommet in the trunk and under the heat shielding to the front battery.

Great choice of radio - I have one myself and really like it! And if that is the Comet SBB-5 then I have that antenna and looks like the same mount as well.

One question - and it's hard to tell in the picture - but would the antenna mount work on the side of the trunk? I also think it would look a little better if it could be on the side. Just my two-cents and that probably isn't worth much these days!

Overall it looks good - like I said, that's a great radio and offers flexible install options which you proved with this install. Well done!
