Dublin Area CHP Officer Killed in the Line of Duty
On Friday, November 16, 2007, a California Highway Patrol Officer assigned to the Dublin Area was killed in a patrol vehicle collision.
Preliminary investigation has revealed the following: At approximately 9:15 P.M., California Highway Patrol Officer John Miller, age 32, was the solo occupant of a patrol vehicle traveling southbound on North Livermore Road approximately ¾ of a mile north of I-580, and had just concluded an attempt to locate a vehicle that had been reported as reckless with a possible DUI driver. As Officer Miller traveled through a curve, his patrol vehicle left the west side of the roadway and its left side struck a tree, resulting in fatal injuries.
Shortly before the collision, the reported vehicle had been located by Livermore Police Department Officers on eastbound I-580 at Greenville Road. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Luis Solano, age 21, was taken into custody after a short pursuit and was booked on charges of DUI, Evading a Peace Officer, and Unlicensed Driving.
Officer Miller graduated from the CHP Academy in West Sacramento in late March of 2007 and reported to the Dublin Area CHP in early April of 2007. He resided in Lodi and is survived by his wife, his young son and daughter, mother and sister.
Funeral arrangements are pending.

That sucks. That section of N. Livermore is such a crappy road. I drive it on a regular basis and a dirt road is smoother.

I almost bit it in that exact same area coming back from an Xmas party one night (zero BA level BTW).

It's a nasty turn.

What does that mean?

I don't see anything about the suspect being an illegal immigrant, so i guess it's a racist assumption apparently based on the drivers name.

Regardless, My well wishes go out to the family, and department. Yet another CHP fatality. Jesus, when will it end?

Actually it's a statistically valid assumption based on math and more suited for the Tavern.

But it wasn't my assumption to begin with. I was clarifying the
other person's statement.

I just drove by it. Other than the nice memorial and the fallen tree it doesn't look like it was as severe as it was.
