well well KHA20 from Huntsville alabama came in this morning as it does offen mornings here in the nashville area it's a a great cacth and is always welcome it mixed in with cookville this morning and at the same time van buren co's NOAA tramttter came in what PDs FDs and ham repeters out in southen midddie TN and nouth alabama sould i look for ?

I have listened to Nashsville/Metro trunked while in Monteagle, when the conditions are good. when that has taken place, I have been on the Nashville side of Monteagle. Nashville is about 89 miles from Monteagle.
Monteagle is elevation is around 2100 feet. The highest point between Chicago, IL and Miami, FL. Up on top of Monteagle, the bands can be fun when the conditions are right.

Try 37.260 and listen for Grundy County SO.

Also run the 42 MHz band and youll get NCSHP, and MHP during good conditions.... AHP on VHF Hi...

KIH20 is our local NOAA transmitter here in Huntsville. It is on a small mountain (1600 FT) just east of downtown.

A good bit of our public safety radios are on the same mountain, however, they are on ly running at 100 watts vs. the 1000 watt NOAA xmitter.

Back when I was a dispatcher for our Sheriff's Office, we always heard Nashville Metro on 155.010 (way before they moved to 800)....which was our Alabama statewide simplex mutual Aid Freq. They came in so strong at times that they drowned out some of the traffic taking place in our area.

Listen for Madison County Sheriff's Dept. here in Huntsville. 154.875 The dispatcher's callsign is "47" (our county number on our tags).

Our EMA ham radio repeater can be heard on Hwy 96 between Franklin and Murfreesboro....not sure about Hendersonville. It is 147.220 callsign is K4RSB. Not used very heavily. Usually someone on from 5-6 pm.

Grundy County SO actually uses 37.260. I did not know that. It is always silent around me. I have heard Lawrence, Wayne, and Lincoln County on it in the past, but that is it.

Hey Glacier, I bet you can remember it was nothing to receive the old Metro PD VHF channels in Monteagle.

Metro PD

I was a dispatcher for a small city department some 120 miles or so northwest of Nashville that had the same 154.860 as Metro used.
All I can say is thank goodness for PL tones, I would be pulling my hair out if I had to sit and listen to those annoying data bursts all night.

Metro PD VHF channels in Monteagle

I loved listening to old Metro Chattanooga frequencies in Monteagle and the old famous "Grundy Hilton" on VHF. Grundy Hilton was the old Grundy County dispatch on 37.26.

Monteagle is a wonderful place to listen to a scanner, shortwave and talk skip on a CB. Clear bluff side property overlooking I-24 on the Nashville side is the best! :!:

Sometimes Metro Moore County has a nice strong signal that can be heard all the way over Monteagle Mountain to around the Haletown exit on I-24 on the Chattanooga side.

Watch for the TN Bears around the 131 on the west side just below the rest aeas and the Pelham Exit 127. :shock:
