Ummm..do what now?

If you mean if I can monitor the Smartnet sites, yes, but I don't have any information currently on them. I've only just now gotten around to setting up OP25 to monitor it, so I'll see how it goes. I also passed the signal into Unitrunker, but other than site information and peers, I didn't get any talkgroups or patches. I suppose those are only available when a call occurs. Not really expecting to hear anything today since its Turkey Day and what not.

Astor site
Oh, nevermind, I'm an idiot. Didn't realize Astor was the name of a location. I thought you meant the SmartZone sites. Oops. Nope, can't hear Astor from here. Only Duke Energy P25 sites I can reliable lock onto from here are Tennille, Live Oak, and Madison, and Mayo and Live Oak for the Smartzone system.

Honestly though, I think I've only ever heard Duke Energy on the Smartzone system a few times on my conventional analog scanner. I'll probably will have to wait until a big power outage event to see if they are active and which system they are active on.

best guess for site 42 is Tarpon Springs

WRFP217

854.6625
857.8625
859.4125

NOTE: I only have Site 42 as a valid neighbor site --- I've not monitored the actual site (yet)

///////////////

reviewing DSD+ data, I also got a hit for Site 51 on 857.3375; most likely this is WRHT913 (neighbor to Site 38, Salt Springs, FL) -- will have to get more data though to nail down the location - I suspect it's LOCHLOOSA, FL ....

I am doing a little more playing with this system today and I have found a few more sites on the air that I will send in later today but I have found something that seems a little strange and I was wondering if anyone else has seen it.

A "new" site 91F14.201.46.46 (I believe is going to be Milan in Ripley County, Indiana) is showing a TDMA control channel on 8-724, 855.5375 but every 5 to 10 minutes or so it seems to switch to 0-362, 855.5375 (the FDMA channel?) for a few minutes and then goes back to 8-724. I am using DSD+ to analyze the site so I'm not sure if this is just a fluke in the software or if the control channel is in fact switching between TDMA and FDMA, perhaps a fallback or failure of some kind?

This is the only site I am seeing this on as of now and was wondering if anyone else has seen anything like this on any other sites?

I'm guessing the radio techs are paying attention to this thread, thank you! Not long after posting this I saw a site registration and the control channel rotated to 0-384 and then back to 8-724 and has now stayed on that channel.

I wouldn't doubt it. There's more people following stuff (especially if it's a system from a company they work for) than I ever thought until I met a couple of them

There is times they do switch control channels like crazy. When they put up a new county system one day a control channel can change 1 to 20 times and go offline and back online and so on.

The control channels for most of the Duke sites I have monitored do change frequencies several times a day but I have never seen one go from a TDMA control channel to a FDMA control channel as this site appeared to be doing.

I remember a new P25 site coming up here that would alternate between two different (FDMA) channels every minute. Eventually, it settled on one of the channels. It's probably a test to make sure everything switches over as it should, and some burn-in of the alternate CC transmitters that won't normally get used, once there are subscriber units on the system.

I've seen a DMR system that ran what appeared to be some kind of short automated test calls on random IDs for about a minute, then a morse ID, on each channel in the trunk. This went on for a number of weeks/months.

Heard my first voice traffic in the Cincinnati area today. TG:62695 off site 91F14.201.10.10 Brecon. All traffic was encrypted.

Also seeing affiliation requests for TG:58100 being denied by the system.

I have had my P25RX-II "scanning" all of the sites in the Cincinnati area for a few months now and this is the first hits I have gotten. I'm guessing perhaps they are doing preps for the anticipated ice storm that's brewing??

I was beginning to wonder if any sites had started using this system so far. Last time I started up Duke Energy sites, I was getting nothing on the P25 site aside from group patches, and still getting a few random calls on their Smart Zone system here in Florida. I hate the idea of tying up SDR dongles to monitor a site that is dead air, so I haven't even checked on it the last two months or so.
