Programming my G4 with current PPS (not Public Safety). I set up a zone/knob setting for a single TG as I have done in other zones, but this zone actually puts the receiver in monitor mode (in other words, it monitors and passes audio through for all TGs currently active on the system). What am I doing wrong? I did not have this problem with the old PPS, but it beats me what setting is incorrect. Monitor mode is not enabled in settings. Thanks for any hints!

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Double check your talkgroup. On occasion I had it put in the FFFFF instead of what I intended and that monitors all talkgroups.
Right, thanks. This isn't my problem. I've got one specific TG in the zone, not a wildcard. Does it matter whether the TG I want to monitor sits in the priority or non-priority list? And does it matter whether I use TG Scan or TG Monitor? It is receiving TGs active on the system that are not in any of my lists, so in effect it's monitoring all active channels, and for the life of me I can't see any setting that permits that.

Is it a trunked system, or conventional? There have been cases of conventional systems sending all messages from dispatchers as a special message type which is basically a broadcast to all stations (regardless of talkgroup). I've forgotten the term for it now.
It's a P25 Phase II system.
I was able to duplicate what you describe as I am new to Unication pagers also and was actualy looking for an option for a wildcard. From what you are describing if i understand what you want is to only monitor one talkgroup on a system. I accompolished this by putting the one talkgroup on the zone and channel knob and setting it to TALK GROUP SCAN instead of TALK GROUP MONITOR. This way only the one talkgroup selected was heard. So simply change from TALKGROUP MONITOR to TALKGROUP SCAN. That should do it.
use talkgroup 65335 instead
Same issue here (new user), I just changed everything to TALK GROUP SCAN with the single TG in the zone (as mentioned above). Whenever I had anything set to TG MONITOR it received other traffic.
"Trunking TG-Monitor" acts like a wildcard for the particular P25 Trunking System you set in that knob position. You will receive any TG's intentionally programmed in that knob position, plus any other TG's (displaying the TG number only) within that same system. This setting is useful if searching for undocumented TG's such as you might find with a new or developing system. In your specific case, you'll want to use "Trunking TG-Scan" to limit reception to only the one TG.
