It is part of the new Fire Staton alerting System. "The MOSCAD Fire Station Alerting system uses two Trunked radio "talkgroups" to notify the fire stations of a new incident. -- from Motorola.

It sends the dispatch information to the units right from the Dispatch console. The information contains all the call information and location history for the call. So the information does not need to be dispatched over the voice channels.

As far as I know, no scanner can decode it. Only Motorola RTU's can decode the data stream.

MOSCAD can be used for a lot of functions in addition to station alerting.

Basically it's a control interface between the radio system and external devices such as doors, lights and lights.

With a custom script, one button can sound the alarm, open the station doors and turn on the lights. When the units have left the station, dispatch can close the doors.
