• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

After recently moving house, we now have a bit more space and I have the chance to setup a "dxing desk". Below are a few options I have found.

Movable Computer Desk Standing Laptop Table Height Adjustable 67-110cm w/Wheels | eBay

Height Adjustable Sofa Bed Side Table Wheel Mobile Computer Desk W/Steel Frame | eBay

Sabrina Adjustable Desk | Fantastic Furniture

The idea is to have something that is portable, it will live in the spare room but come out to other rooms as needed. Ideally it will on wheels, have a work surface that will fit my 3" FSL and some radios and also have some storage space. At this stage the last one appears to be the best "fit" for my needs. Before I buy this, what do you use or any other ideas you have seen?

I have one of these (actually 2!): Realspace Magellan Sit Stand Desk Espresso - Office Depot

I don't know the availability in your part of the world but it is an inexpensive option here, under $300US.

We have ceramic tile floors so we put nylon sliders and that allows us to move it around easily. This desk includes a power strip underneath with 2 USB power ports so with proper cable management you can move it around as needed. It seems very sturdy, the only reason I don't use in as my main desk right now is that I outgrew it Being 60 inches wide it was fine for 2 large monitors but that was it. My wife uses it now for her sewing room as an assembly table and it works fine for that. Mine is now in the garage as a workbench with a piece of 3/4 plywood as a topper.

My desk like this will be making a reappearance here next month. I have ordered a new desk rack that will fit and match this perfectly so watch for pictures soon!

My wife uses a smaller standing desk we got from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08N5ZY8RT). She only has a computer, monitor and a desk light but we do tend to move it around the house a lot, she gets bored working in one room so moves it to another. Since the computer is on WiFi there is only a power cord for an outlet strip I mounted underneath. It too is on sliders so it is easily moved around.

Long as coax & power are long enough to allow making it to the toilet, the rest is detail.
