I need help, I am in Vail and would like to monitor Eagle County (Motorola Type II SmartZone) with my BC245. I am a little confsued about the system. There are 13 different sites. I think that only 2 of the sites listed will be close enough to monitor. So here's the question: What do I program?? There are multiple control channels on each site. Do I program everything and hope it works out. I know I am supposed to program the control channels first; should I program all of them (even those that are too far away to pick up?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

I am not there yet. I will be there later this week. I am there a few months out of the year. I tried programming it last January with no luck. I have no idea where you are. I will be right across the highway from the Bell Tower site (006) on the RR list. and within a few miles from the East Vail site.

You monitor 2 channels only? How can that be?

I am going to resurrect this thread, because I am having the same problem--which freqs do I program for Eagle County? I have PM'd 401402, but haven't heard back yet, so if anyone else has any insight it would be appreciated. I am going to be in Avon and Vail for the next five days and will be using a Pro-97.

First off remember you are programming a Motorola Type II analog trunked system so more than the control channels (more properly called data channels) on a smartnet system need to be programmed in and remember also that the system controller will often change the data channel every 24 hrs.

So all frequencies for each site that you plan to monitor off of should be programmed in. Order does not matter because we are talking Moto here rather than EDACS.

Ron no need to take them to PM, if you have programming hints or suggestions please share them in the open forums.

A very simple system to monitor.

Thanks Jim. Now, just to be sure I understand...I see 13 different sites listed in the database for the Eagle County Public Safety system with an assortment of frequencies--some duplicates. If I enter all of those, should I be good to go?

Yes but some of those sites you really don't need if your going to be monitoring from Vail, why enter Wolcott and Dowd and such?

My confusion

I have all of the frequencies programmed in my PRO-95. Most of the time it works great, however ocassionally when driving through Eagle county, it will stop on the control channels and blesses me with that metallic control channel buzz. I end up having to lock out a bunch of control channels to make it stop doing that. Then, on my return trip, I'll have un-locked all of the control channels, and it will work fine.......

It's a little frustrating trying to hit the L/O button while driving 75mph @ night.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that! Things like that make life interesting! Thanks for the input. It should be an interesting drive over there today.
