Ok I think i did feel this , I thought there was a train going by but when I looked
there was no train,....Listening to the scanner , hearing different agencies out looking for
some kind of explosion ,...is how many callers reported it here ,...then came reports from enviroment canada
saying something did register as an earthquake ,...but then one agency reported that it was caused by military aircraft "exceeding thier speed limit" coming out of Ohio ?
strange for this area....
UPDATE :
Now they are saying Enviroment Canada called back & confirmed It was military exercise over the lake...

Actual Toledo F-16 Scramble.

This was an actual Intercept of an aircraft that lost contact with ATC not an exercise. Wish I was outside when this happened. This is the second actual intercept this year for Toledo. On 01-02-11 they launched to follow Luftansa 499 Heavy (DLH499 747-400 Mexico to Germany). I think it was the same reason, lost contact with ATC. (Air Traffic Control)

The news article
From Windsor Star

WINDSOR, Ont. -- What felt like an earthquake to many residents across Essex County Tuesday was a military exercise over Lake Erie, Natural Resources Canada head seismologist David McCormack said Tuesday night.

“We know it’s not an earthquake,” McCormack said.

Media and residents contacted Natural Resources Canada with reports of a loud boom and houses shaking around 5:10 p.m. Tuesday.

McCormack didn’t have details of the military exercise over the lake, including whether it involved U.S. or Canadian planes. He said he knows there were planes and what people heard was likely the aircraft breaking the sound barrier. He said it was felt and heard over a broad area in Essex County.

Natural Resources Canada, which brands its work as Earthquake Canada on the web, confirmed two small earthquakes in the Wheatley area last week. After those quakes, residents from Amherstburg to Wheatley who experienced a similar boom and shaking were left guessing there was another earthquake Tuesday.

“We thought something blew up,” said Colleen Kelley who lives in Cottam.

Kelley said her house shook. She phoned relatives in Kingsville, Leamington and Essex and they all had similar stories.

In Amherstburg, Coun. Diane Pouget said the sound was so loud, it seemed like it went all over the town.

“You’re kidding me,” she said when she heard it was a military exercise and not an earthquake.

When asked if residents should have been notified about a military exercise, she said you would hope so.

Pouget lives close to Lake Erie and didn’t see any aircraft when she went outside. She said she also didn’t remember hearing planes Tuesday.

In Leamington, the sound and shaking stopped shoppers briefly at the County Fair Mall. Ryan Young, 22, who works at the Bell Store at the mall, said startled shoppers stopped and looked around before going back to shopping.

Cleveland center

I have a question. In nodak1crdet3's excellent post he outlined traffic he monitored from Cleveland Center ATC, both on the civilian and military channels. I was wondering why Cleveland Center worked the two scrambled F-16's on so many different military frequencies?

That's a good question Radioskip1,
It would make my life a lot easier if they did stay on one freq, but since they're not staying in one area they have to switch freqs for the different sectors inside of Cleveland Center. Basically you have different controllers in the main center in Oberlin OH. Each controller has different sectors to control. Some have high sectors, & some have low sectors. In the link below, there is a map of Cleveland Center's different sectors in that forum.
It's a good thing that the MUDDY's now have the ARC-210 radio's. Before that they could only talk to HUNTRESS on UHF 228.900, & Cleveland Center on VHF freqs. Now they have a Front, Mid, (AUX) & Rear radio. So it makes it pretty interesting to follow them when they're using all the radio's.

This is a pretty normal flight for Toledo F-16's heading for the PIKE WEST MOA in the NE area of lower MI. The F-16's usually don't use the PIKE EAST MOA, because it's over Lake Huron. You don't want to have a problem over water when your in a single engine jet. That water is cold!!
