Can someone tell me what does Trauma Red and Trauma Green mean? Also, what is the difference in the two Trauma Codes? I hear that alot when East Care is talking to the hospital. Any help with this would be much appreciated!

I Guess this could mean about the same:D

When the LifeFlight nurses and pilots are contacted by the communications specialists, they are informed of the type of call: Code Red, Code Red Scene, Code Green, Code Green Scene, Code Yellow, or Code Blue. In a Code Red, LifeFlight is called from another hospital, and the pilot, or two pilots if it is nighttime, and a team of nurses must take off within five minutes. One nurse runs to the blood bank, while the other nurse and the pilot prepare the helicopter for take-off.
LifeFlight is the only helicopter service in North Carolina which can bring blood on the call. The nurses bring the blood in packed form, meaning the blood is more concentrated and takes up less volume. Sometimes this blood can make the difference between life and death. By the time the first nurse returns with the blood, "the blades are already turning", says Cindy. Sometimes the helicopter takes off from the landing pad before the team even knows its destination.
If the requesting hospital is more than fifty miles, or 20 to 25 minutes away, the communications specialists inform the LifeFlight team that the call is a Code Green. The team must still leave with the blood within five minutes.
When LifeFlight is summoned to the scene of an accident, the call is Code Red Scene. Code Red Scenes involve mostly car accidents, but might also be fires, drowning, or electrocutions, says Karen Webster, an RN who has been with LifeFlight for about two years. The LifeFlight team was given a Code Red Scene when a fire broke out on September 3, 1991, in Hamlet, North Carolina, at the Imperial Foods, Inc. food processing plant. All the helicopter ambulances in the area were notified; LifeFlight's helicopters made three trips from Hamlet to Duke with patients, most suffering from smoke inhalation.
The LifeFlight crew has more time to react for a Code Yellow call. They have about ten to fifteen minutes to problems.

Code Green/Code Red

So you are saying that Trauma Green/Code Green is the same thing and Code Green is the most serious then Code Red?

East Care Helicopter Frequencies

The two frequencies that I got for East Care is 463.175 and 468.175, I live in Goldsboro and pick them up very clear. Hope that helps!

Eastcare also has VIPER talkgroups that they use regularly.

EastCare TalkGroups

How do I pick up the Talk Groups for EastCare? I have got a Unident BCT8 scanner. It is not clear to me about exactly what it means by Viper, can you please explain that to me?

Unfortunately you can't hear the Eastcare talkgroups on a Uniden BCT8 scanner. That scanner is analog only and the Eastcare talkgroups are digital. And VIPER stands for Voice Interoperability Plan for Emergency Responders. It is a set of standards setup for statewide interoperability regardless of type of radio system in use. The NC statewide radio system also has been given the VIPER nickname. Look in the Pitt County section of the VIPER system and you will find the Eastcare talkgroups.

Happy Monitoring!

Viper system

How do I know if the county that I live is can be heard with a digital scanner? Also, what model scanner do I need to be able to pick up talkgroups in my area and how far from my home can I pick up with a digital scanner? Any help with this would be much appreciated!

the db tells if a tg is digital or not it will have a A(Analog) or D(Digital) and for what model is should not matter as long as it's a trunked radio and its digital. And how far just depends.

Going to have to disagree here. Lifeflight isn't the only helicopter service in NC that carries blood on calls, MAMA here in Asheville carries blood on calls.

Gunshot/Penetrating injury to the torso, neck or proximal extremities
Burns with any of the above criteria
ED physicians discretion

Trauma Yellow:

Extremity Vascular Compromise
Amputation proximal to the wrist or ankle
Crush to the chest/pelvis
Two or more proximal long bone fx
Significant fall with obvious injury
Pedestrian hit with obvious injury
Motorcycle crash with seperation of rider and bike or obvious injury
MVC with ejection, rollover, >40mph, or death at scene with obvious injury
Burns: >10% partial thickness, full thickness, electrical/lighting, chemical, inhalation, circumferential, face, hands, feet, genitialia, major joints, pts <5 or >55, in pts wtih significant morbidities or concomitant trauma

Trauma Green:
Any other trauma pt that does not meet the above criteria

Lifeflight Helicopter

Carolina's Medical Center "Med Center Air" Helicopter in Charlotte also carries blood. They keep it near the helipad in their office in a miniature blood bank of their own.
Just wanted to add that.

I can confirm that MAMA carries blood, I've been with MAMA since 94 and we have been carring blood since I started, I'm Communications Technical Coordinator for Regional EMS at Mission Hospital, which MAMA is one of our 5 departments.
