I wonder why Columbia County felt the need to scramble day to day communications…no surrounding counties do….citizens with scanners helped locate wanted persons but not now

Their neighbors to the east will join them once the cutover happens in Luzerne. When trying to get funding they promised it would all be clear but midway through decided we’ll no longer be able to hear PD.

I’m throwing in the towel on the new dispatch channel. Still hearing nothing on it. I can hear on the 156.015 still so I know there’s calls. Doesn’t look like the new channel has as much juice.

Could it be the tower site that they are using at the time. Where you listening to a call at the time

I am understanding if for ex a Union County units responds to Danville for mutual aid they have to have the former county ops channels in their
Analog radio correct
The whole scenario is nuts…the count commissioners were sold something they knew nothing about….I talked to one who is a neighbor and I don’t believe they truly understand the concept of uhf or even vhf in hilly terrain but here we are

I was told by a former deputy fire chief in the fire department that I belonged to that the response channel will be 156.015(old Columbia Fire 1)

I programmed my scanner for the new P25 channels
It stops on EC 1 during a dispatch, but the audio cuts in and out. Why is this?
I live right outside of Bloomsburg towards Berwick
So coverage shouldn't be a problem
Any one else experiencing this?

Anyone know if Montour county pulled out of this mess….It states that police because of poor coverage are not in the system….I’m confused…are the old system or digital or what the heh

Are you talking about the statement on their radioreference page if i am correct that is on the old analog system
So I would program them as not digital as they used to be…sorry but this whole change is confusing

I’m down in a hole inside a hole in Luzerne. I tried the trunked system outside today & got nothing but that’s not too surprising. Same for the new dispatch channel. Still getting the 156.015 though. Doesn’t seem like they needed to flip dispatch frequencies like that but oh well. Maybe if they still use the 156.015 for ops I can at least still hear that.

I am understanding all police are digital and fire dispatch is 154.055 and fire ground is digital and May be using 156.015 for response channel for out of county units that don’t have digital radios

Ok thank you…not a good situation for neighboring counties…we will see how this affects volunteers…

Yeah. I just don’t get the switching to the 154.055 rather than keeping what they already had working and using an existing ops channel for out of county interops. It’s not like they’re going to the 154.055 from the old 46.12.
Adding to my mystery. I can get Skook’s VHF, Columbia’s 156.015, and Norry’s VHF dispatch. But I can’t get Lyco (or Sullivan) or the other VHF in Columbia. I guess it just depends on the transmitter locations and the juice they have.

154.055 the old EMA frequency, is used for dispatch also. Our pagers had to get reprogrammed to it a few weeks ago from 156.015. Not sure why if 156.015 is still active
I am halfway between Bloom and Berwick, EC1, the new dispatch P25 channel, cuts in and out during a dispatch. Being so close with a outside antenna, signal strength shouldn't be an issue for me.
