I was searching a bank of freq's tonight, when I picked up on an undercover/surveillance being worked by two officers....they referenced an intersection that I am not familiar with, on a freq range I am not familiar with. So are there any sites I can go to that will allow me to locate a road name by state only? It would most likey be in Va, possibly Md. The frequency was in the 460.xxxx range.

I tried yahoo maps and mapquest.

I know you said you tried mapquest but if you have a street and the nearest cross and the state you shouldnt need the town. Also for future reference I've found that a good peice of equipment to have for scanning in the MD, VA, DC area is a good ADC street map. Its perfect around here cause thats what the county has in their crusiers. Also did you try an FCC search on the frequency to narrow down the county your looking in? Just an idea....Actually Im looking at a frequency list right now and there are several possibilities. What was the exact frequency?

I use Microsoft Streets & Trips, Use the Address Finder and type street name and state. But NOTE you may find a long list of the same street in that state, But with the intersection and a little work you may find what you are looking for.

As being famillar with Barnesville I did a search of my frequencies, If 460.0250 is what you heard then it was WV State Police in Charles Town

Thanks Rusty....will have to dig out an old copy of streets and tips.

I checked the FCC database, and the closest listing to me is Purcellville Va. To the best of my knowledge, they don't have a Police Dept, nor either of the two roads mentioned.

Just a thought, and one which may hold no water in your case, but one of the favorite covert ops "intersection" locations in one city I frequent is "Market and Boston." There's no such intersection there, but the intersection referred to is the one with the Boston Market on the corner. Oh, and there's also "Kay Circle" or "Kay" and "Walton." That's the Circle K store on the corner in front of Wally World. Just some food for thought.

Streets

The surveillance boys around here like to put "O's" into the street names a lot. For example, 28th street will be called out as "the two - O - eight" and so on. They also refer to north as twelve, east as three, et cetera. I especially like all the nicknames they have for themselves (pickles, wee man, peanuts, noogie ...) and the perps (doo rag, pot belly ...).
Pretty creative bunch.

Not surprising considering you bumped up a thread almost 2 Years old
Your other pages are good sources of info though...in the future you might
want to double check the date of the last reply of the thread in which you are
posting a reply...

I wanted to identify a city by some street names. I searched the forums and this thread was returned. I saw it was old. I figured out the new links and posted them for the benefit of others.

I was not complaining about Tweekerbob's link. That's why I began with "That page no longer exists." I'll try to be clearer in the future.

The only change to the link is they UNcapitalized the 'L' in Lookups.

Please don't get shot; I've heard that can lead to death. They will also arrest you. Whether that comes before or after you get shot is still open to debate and usually involves a whole lotta paperwork. Cops hate paperwork! (but they will still shoot you)

URLs are not case sensitive. Compare the links again. Then try them. Only one works.
