EDACS and bcd396t

Hi everyone,

Had a question concerning the bcd396t and EDACS systems. I have programed EDACS with single towers without any problems, but was curious about systems that have multiple towers, for example like http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&sid=1780

Since the 396 has dynamic memory, would I be able to program all the frequencies (in order) for each site all in one system, or would I need to set up a separate system for each site?

I think this has come up before and the answer is that you have to set up two separate systems.

Like garys said, you need to program each site as a seperate system, but you can assign each system the same System Quick Key.

I forgot that, yes you can. You can also just set up the talk groups for one system and then do copy and paste into the other one. Saves a lot of time.

The above answers are correct, the only time you can put multiple EDACS sites in the same system is when they don't share LCN's. For example if you have two sites, one with frequencies on LCN 1 thru 6 and a second site with frequencies on LCN 7 thru 12 they could indeed be in the same system (provided of course they are the same system ). But remember, your 396 will only use one CCh at a time this way, whereas programming them as separate systems under one SQK will get you both CChs alternately.

Thanks guys! I really appreciate the answers. Also, I never thought about assigning multiple systems to one system quick key. That's a good idea. Guess I'm still used to the 296d way of doing things!
