I am listening to both systems of Volusia County EDACS. The scanner will pause on a ID & Channel, and then keep going, pausing on other ID's and channels. This is irritating because while the scanner is pausing on channels, it wont pick up other channels. Eventually, the scanner will get lucky and lock onto something, and start picking up conversations.
I had a couple of theories.. and I wanted some opinions on this...
First one, and I think this is why - the scanner is not decoding the control channel properly. If you tune in the control channel, I dont notice any static on the channel. I am using the 800MHz antenna on the scanner. If I use the stock antenna, it is still the same.
Second, the programming is screwed up - the scanner was programmed initially at RadioShack when I got it, and I have just added to it, adding ID's and such. The freq's are all programmed into EDACS mode.
Scanner just screwy - It's possible, since it was probably assembled by little kids in China....
I have tried taking the scanner out with me, and it still does this. It usually sits on my headboard at night, as me and my wife listen to it. Sometimes I put it in my window, and that doesn't really make a difference.
WHen I do get reception, it comes in pretty clear... so I dont know....
Any help appreicated!
