EDACS/ ProVoice

Does anyone know if the 2096 will decode the EDACS / ProVoice system now being implemented all over FL ?

There are no scanners on the market now that will work to decode ProVoice Digital Modulation. Unless, of course, you wish to spend lots of $$$ on a MA/Com radio with the ProVoice option added.

ProVoice is not Encrypted out of the box. It is digital modulation. There are a lot of people that confuse Digital Modulation with encryption.

Just because a system is ProVoice, does not mean it is encrypted.

Those are talking about the specifics of that one system (Florida Highway Patrol) not all ProVoice systems.

I know they are speaking of it being an add-on, just seems like they say, overkill. but anyway..

But the question here was about the Florida system, which is encrypted, and ESK, so buying an EDACS radio and having it programmed won't work.

even with a provoice radio, and even if they werent using DES, you still wouldnt be getting that radio programmed on the system without the key.

Damn, talk about overkill. How much taxpayer money was used for that SNAFU? I think Florida really got suckered with this system. Either that, or, the powers that be are really paranoid about people listening to them.

There has been a lot of sophisticated drug running and other smugling in FL (Nah, that can't be it!)
