If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

You have to plug in EDACS channels in the order that they are shown starting with channel 1 in the bank. Not channel 0. If there is a channel that is left blank, then, leave it blank.

Hope that helps.

Two important things when programming EDACS in the Pro-96:

1. You start on the 01 channel of the bank you choose, i.e. 101 or 201 or 301, etc.

2. You NEED to enter all the frequencies the system uses in its specific LCN order.

EDACS has never (and probably never will) be a Control-Channel only type of system. And that's with any brand of scanner.

I don't live in Ohio, but for an EDACS system, you can't do the control channel only method. You must enter all the system frequencies, and they must be entered in the correct LCN order.

The system you are trying to monitor isn't a ProVoice system, is it? Because no scanner made can track an EDACS ProVoice system.

Program ALL the channels control AND voice channels in its LCN order.

The database shows the Lancaster site has 4 frequencies, that's all you will need to program and then hit scan.

Self help is the GREATEST help. If you can't help yourself, nobody can do it for you. The basic rule of everything is to read the instructions.

OIC, you missed the part that mentions you must program ALL the EDACs freqs in the proper LCN. Thats not what I read from your first post. Gotcha.

This forum provides a valuable resource for information and help, however I often make the mistake of assuming that most people have accomplished the basics.

You ever think that everybody doesn't what LCN means? We are all here to help people as much as we can. If they dont understand something then try explaining it a little better until they do understand.

LCN, EDACS in the PRO-96

One other thing, that I didn't see in the posts I went back through. When you program an EDACS system, start with X01, not on X00. The scanner looks for LCN 1 on the first channel, not the 0 channel.

In other words, if you're in Bank 1, start on 101, not 100. This also means you can't program two distant EDACS systems into the same bank (like you can with a Motorola Type II).

The owners manual defines LCN and tells you to put LCN 1 in channel 01 in the EDACS programming section, etc.

I give up with people that think everyone should know it all like they do.
We now return to your regularly scheduled topic.
